• The Jayhawks are 135-59 (69.6%) on the road in Big 12 play since 1996-97. The team with the next highest winning percentage is Texas, which is 87-108 (44.6%) in conference road games since the league formed.
• KU went undefeated on the road in 2002, going 8-0 that year. The 2002 Jayhawks are the only Big 12 team to finish a conference slate without a road loss and go undefeated in Big 12 play (16-0)

Kansas leads the overall series with Kansas State, 197-94, including a 90-35 record in games played in Lawrence (49-18 in Allen Fieldhouse). Starting in 2007, Kansas has won the last 13 meetings with Kansas State in Allen Fieldhouse.
LET’S GET DEFENSIVEThe 2019-20 Jayhawks are have turned in some impressive defensive numbers through their first 16 games of the season, something that has been a staple for Bill Self’s KU squads. Kansas has held 11 of its 16 opponents this season to below 40% shooting, including five of the last six foes and seven of the last nine. KU has also held 11 opponents to 30% or less from beyond the 3-point arc, including five of its last six. Additionally, the Jayhawks are also forcing 14.4 turnovers per game and nabbing 8.4 steals per game.
In Bill Self’s 16 seasons at Kansas, the Jayhawks have finished among the top-three Big 12 teams in field goal percentage defense 14 times and finished lower than fourth just once. Nationally, Self-coached Jayhawks have ranked eighth or higher nine times in field goal percentage defense and have ranked in the top five on eight occasions, including first in 2005-06 and 2012-13.

OTHER DEFENSIVE PERSPECTIVES IN THE SELF ERAKansas has held nine opponents to 60 points or less through its first 16 games, including six of its last seven outings. More impressive is the 60.8 points allowed would rank first in the Bill Self era (2003-04 to present), just ahead of the 2005-06 team at 61.3, the 2007-08 national championship team at 61.5, and the 2006-07 and 2011-23 squads at 61.7. Under Self, Kansas has held its opponents to under 65 ppg in a season eight times.
Shooting-wise, Kansas opponents have posted a field goal percentage of 40% or higher in each of the last three seasons. Through 16 games, Kansas is holding foes to 37.2%, which ranks as the third lowest in the Self era. The 2012-13 team is tops at 36.1% followed by the 2005-06 squad at 37.0%.
Kansas averages 8.4 steals per contest in 2019-20, which would rank tied for fourth-most with the 2009-10 team in the Self era. KU’s 2005-06 team leads the way with 9.8 steals per game followed by the 2006-07 team at 9.2 and the 2007-08 squad at 8.9.
BOUNCING BACKSince Bill Self took the helm of the Jayhawks in 2003, Kansas has been stellar at bouncing back following a loss. Over the last 16-plus season, Kansas is 96-13 in games coming off a defeat, which is the best winning percentage (88.1%) in NCAA DI in that span.
Incredibly, KU has been even more efficient over the last six seasons, amassing a record of 45-5 (90%) after losses. This includes a 3-0 mark this season.

Azubuike and Dotson have received numerous honors in the 2019-20 season. Both have been named to the 2020 Oscar Robertson, by the USBWA, the Naismith Trophy and NABC Player of the Year watch lists.
DOK DOWNING RECORDSSenior Udoka Azubuike leads the nation in field goal percentage at 77.6% through 16 games. The center is vying to earn the honor for the second time in his career. In 2017-18, Azubuike ended first in NCAA Division I in field goal percentage at 77.0% and he was the only player shooting 70% or better with a minimum of five shots made per game.
In 2017-18, Azubuike crushed the Big 12 single-season record of 69.3 percent, set by Ricardo Ratliffe of Missouri in 2011-12, and the KU season mark of 64.6 percent set by Mark Randall in 1988-89. In fact, Azubuike’s 77.0 percent ranks second all-time behind Devontae Cacok of UNC-Wilmington, who set the NCAA record in 2016-17 at 80.0 percent.
History has shown that it isn’t easy to lead the nation in a statistic. Azubuike’s feat in 2017-18 marked only the third time a Jayhawk led the country in a season stat, with the other two by KU All-Americans. KU legend Clyde Lovellette led the NCAA in scoring average in 1951-52 (28.6 ppg). Thomas Robinson led the country in double-doubles with 27 during the 2011-12 season.

KANSAS WRAPS UP IMPRESSIVE DECADEKansas concluded 2019 in impressive fashion in what arguably is the most impressive decade in program history. Kansas claimed its 300th victory since Jan. 1, 2010, with a 95-68 win against Milwaukee on Dec. 10, becoming just the second team in NCAA DI to hit the 300-win plateau this decade (Gonzaga, 308). This marked the first time the program has tallied 300 wins in a decade. KU’s 81.6 winning percentage (302-68) during the 2010’s trails only the run by the Jayhawks in the 1990’s, when KU posted an 82.0 win percentage with a 283-62 mark.
The 2010s saw the Jayhawks reach two Final Fours, claim nine Big 12 regular-season championships and win five Big 12 Tournament titles. KU was also slotted as a No. 1 seed in six of the 10 NCAA Tournaments played. Kansas found itself ranked among the top-10 in 157 of the 192 Associated Press polls released during this decade, spending a mind-boggling 82% of the 2010’s as a top-10 team.
The decade has not been kind to those playing the Jayhawks in Allen Fieldhouse. KU concluded the decade with a 151-7 mark (95.6 %) playing on James Naismith Court.
The program saw four Consensus First Team All-Americans, four Big 12 Players of the Year, 14 All-Big 12 First Team selections, as well as a National Player of the Year, all in the last 10 years.

NOTES • Bill Self was named the eighth coach in Kansas basketball history on April 21, 2003. • In September 2017, Self was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in
Springfield, Massachusetts.• Self won his 600th career game on Dec. 6, 2016, with KU’s 105-62 win against UMKC. He became
the 46th coach in NCAA Division I to accomplish the feat and the ninth fastest.• While at Kansas, Self has won a national championship, a KU- and NCAA-record 14-straight
regular-season Big 12 Conference titles and eight league tournament championships. • At Kansas, Self has won more regular-season league titles (14) than he has home losses (13) in
Allen Fieldhouse. With KU’s win versus Siena (11/18/16), Self became the winningest coach in Allen Fieldhouse, posting his 207th victory in the venue.
• In his first trip to the Final Four in 2008, Self’s team won the title. Self is one of 11 active coaches in NCAA Division I to have won a national title. Kansas’ 14-straight conference titles (2005-18) is the longest streak in NCAA Division I history.
• In Self’s first 15 seasons at Kansas, he has coached 11 NBA Lottery selections including Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid, the No. 1 and No. 3 overall selections in the 2014 NBA Draft. Wiggins was the second-ever Jayhawk to go No. 1 with the other being Danny Manning in 1988.
• Self has guided his teams to 21-straight 23-win seasons dating back to 1998-99. • Self’s teams have won 18 league crowns in the last 21 years. His teams have never finished lower
than third in the conference.• Kansas’ four-straight 30-win seasons from 2009-10 to 2012-13 are the most consecutive 30-win
seasons in NCAA history (note: Memphis did it from 2006-09 yet later vacated the 2008 season). • Self was the head coach for Team USA’s U18 team that competed and won gold at the 2018 FIBA
Americas Championship held in St. Catherines, Canada, in the summer of 2018.• Self is one of five coaches in NCAA Division I history to have led three different teams - Tulsa,
Illinois and Kansas - to the NCAA Elite Eight, including seven times with KU (2004-07-08-11-12-16-17). The other coaches are: Gene Bartow, John Calipari, Rick Pitino and Eddie Sutton.
• A 1985 graduate of Oklahoma State, Self began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Kansas in 1985-86 under head coach Larry Brown. He then returned to his alma mater as an assistant for seven seasons under coaches Leonard Hamilton and Eddie Sutton. His first head coaching job was at Oral Roberts in 1993-94, then Tulsa (1997-98), Illinois (2000-03) and Kansas (2003-present).
