Sarfaraz is a chartered accountant by qualification and has 30 years of professional work experience, mainly in the FMCGindustry.
He commenced his career with Unilever in 1983 and spent time in Finance, Marketing Services, Management Accounting and Cost Savingprojects. The five years spent at Unilever was the basis of an in depth knowledge of business principles.
Moving on to Smithkline Beecham, he was involved in the Merger and Strategic Planning at the time of the merger. This gave him greatinsight into M&A activities.
Later, he spent several years abroad with Jardine Matheson/Olayan mainly in Finance and Business Development. He set up the firstLogistics Service Provider in the Middle East.
Sarfaraz then moved to PepsiCo, managing the Pakistan/Afghanistan Unit. Pepsi Pakistan won the Franchise of the Year in 2001 and hereceived the Chairmans Award in 2000 this is an annual award given to a few Pepsi managers worldwide.
Later postings and consultancy assignments were outside Pakistan for 2003-5.
On his return to Pakistan, Sarfaraz launched Engro Foods Limited in 2005 and for over six years was in the position of C.E.O. Engro Foodsis a leading dairy company in Pakistan, competing with Nestle and Unilever. EFL won the G20 World Top 15 company award in early 2012,as a leader in innovation worldwide. EFL was listed in 2011 at the KSE.
Sarfaraz moved out of commercial operations into CSR with Dawood Foundation in November 2011. In this role he initiated mass educationby use of online technology. Under his leadership Dawood Foundation, Engro Foods and Citizen Foundation were running 15 pilots on E-learning in rural areas, to assess our ability to expand these pilots to a large scale mass education program. He was also involved with thelaunch of the Karachi School for Business and Leadership, which commenced operations in 2012.
Recently Sarfaraz moved back to Engro Foods Limited as Chief Executive Officer.

Arif is heading the Family Business Initiative at LUMS. Previously he had spearheaded the SME Pulse Initiative as well as theTextile Productivity Initiative. He was also the Director of the Entrepreneurship Small and Medium Enterprise Centre (ESMEC)for almost a decade.
Arif has been a consultant to a few Pakistani businesses in the area of Family Business, Productivity Improvement and InventoryManagement. He has also been consultant/academic advisor for a couple of universities, where he helped in developing andimplementing new systems for faculty evaluation and development, in addition to upgrading the curriculum and facilities. Hehas taught in the MBA program as well as several executive programs in the areas of Operations Management, Decision Making,Supply Chain and Retail Management, and Family Business. Arif has published papers in Supply Chain Management: AnInternational Journal, The Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, Computes & Operations Research, EuropeanJournal of Operations Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, and Malaysian Journal of Small & MediumEnterprises. He has also written/supervised over fifty case studies.
