Simple Web Publishing

• Traditionally, publishing to the web required:– Knowledge of HTML– A server– A domain name– An FTP client

• Now there are many simple ways to do this

What’s What?• All definitions are flexible, possibly fleeting

and not mutually exclusive! • What’s a website?

– Content written in HTML, delivered via HTTP• What’s a blog?

– A website used as a “web log”, or online diary• What’s a wiki?

– A collaborative web site, usually structured
