Savista Retreat

Only 22 km from the Jaipur city center, Savista is uniquely located in the tranquil Rajasthan countryside. Its quiet environs are marked by dense greenery, wooded ravines and undulating cropland.

The Savista haveli (a completely restored residence of a royal Kachhawa chieftain) blends traditional architectural design withcomfortable modern interiors. It houses 16 bedroom suites, and astate-of-the-art recreation complex that includes a library, music room, business center and several lounges. The haveli is set in its own gardens of jasmine, parijat, kanchan, khejri, and gulmohur trees.

As a responsible travel destination, Savista combines luxury and elegance with energy conservation, organic farming and investment in the local community. The haveli has been restored with locally-produced, energy-conserving building materials, drawing on the hereditary skills of local masons.

The haveli rises in two levels around a central pool-court, overlooked by balconies and terraces. The 20-metre pool is of environmentally conscious design, refilled each day with fresh, cool water that is then recycled to irrigate the surrounding cropland.

The reception (below), library (below right), conference room and lounge are at the ground level, overlooking the pool-court on one side, and leading into gardens of neem and khejri on the other. On the first level, a reading lounge, music room,business center and several sit-outs (above) overlook vistas of tree-tops, sand dunes, and fields.

Each room at Savista is distinctively designed, with a mix of handcrafted antique and modern furniture, and textiles in the vibrant colours of Rajasthan. Every room has a unique theme; some are featured below:

Terracotta (right): A spacious poolside room with French windows opening out onto a leafy arbor. The décor is a blend of wood-carved antique Rajasthani and colonial furniture, with soft furnishings in orange and brick-red, offset by brilliant blue.

Gulaabo (left): A large cool room whose furnishings reflect Jaipur’s rose-pink theme and block printing craft. It has carved wooden beds, a poolside balcony and French windows overlooking fields.

Bhaskara (below): Large French windows open out into a grove of shady khejri and neem trees, and the balcony faces the pool. This spacious tubular room has a modern décor, with a wrought iron king bed. The colours here, in brilliant yellow and silver white, are a homage to the sun and moon.

The open-air pool, tennis court, hammocks, sit-outs, terraces, and gardens all invite a variety of outdoor activities. In addition to jogging around the estate, guests can take guided cross-country hikes and leisurely camel cart rides through the surrounding ravines, as well as village tours. For the avid bird-watcher, Savista is home to over 60 identified varieties of birds.

As part of its commitment to sustainable living, Savista grows much of its own grains and vegetables. For its remaining needs of milk, poultry, grains, and vegetables, it supports farmers in the surrounding areas. The trees and aromatic shrubs on the estate are all local varieties, known for their hardiness and low water requirements. In other parts of the estate, solar heating, waste recycling and drip irrigation form key components of our commitment to being a responsible travel destination.

The food is simple, tasty home cooking - North & South Indian, Rajasthani and select Western – using organically grown, locally sourced ingredients.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served under a canopy of trees (above) or in the dining room (below). Snacks and drinks are available by the poolside.

A low-slung complex, separate from the haveli and hidden behind a curtain of trees, houses the gym, spa, yoga terrace, bar-lounge, dining room and kitchen. The spa offers traditional Indian ayurvedic massages and yoga classes, in addition to steam and sauna facilities.

Forty-five minutes away by car from Savista are Amber Fort (top right) and the Jal Mahal (top). Jaipur’s ancient walled city, with its bazaars (bottom right) and other sights, is less than a 30 minute (22 km) drive away. The medieval town of Bagru, famous as a weaving and block printing centre (middle right), is 10 km away. Savista is en route to Pushkar (120 km) and its temples and annual cattle fair (below left).

• From Jaipur city/airport/Delhi/Agra, arrive at Heerapura Crossing, where the Jaipur-Ajmer road meets the Delhi and Agra roads

• From Heerapura, continue on Ajmer Road. You will pass 4 landmarks – Delhi Public School, Pink Pearl and Kanchan Kesari (on your right) and Omaxe City (on your left)

• Take the 1st right turn after Omaxe City on to a rural link road (0.5km before the toll both)

• Drive straight down this link road through Village Thikaria and Vatika City project, and on to Village Sanjharia and Swapnalok

• After entering Swapnalok, pass two roundabouts and enter Savista on your right
