Dear Friend of Fraser,

Thank you for your interest in supporting Fraser through the 2017 Fraser Walk for Autism. Fraser serves children and adults with more than 60 types of mental and physical disabilities and is Minnesota’s largest and most experienced provider of autism services.

Over 6,000 Minnesota families are without quality autism treatment options near their home. To help meet the increase in demand for services, Fraser hosts the Fraser Walk for Autism to unite thousands of local families to raise support and awareness for autism.

The Fraser Walk for Autism is a family–friendly event around the first level of Mall of America filled with sensory activities, mascots, games and great prizes and giveaways. You can rally a team or register as an individual walker. Last year over 3,000 walkers, volunteer and event sponsors helped raised over $125,000.

Your support through events like the Fraser Walk for Autism will help us sustain our current programs, and more importantly, help expand our innovative services for children, adults, and families affected by autism. The crucial funds raised through this event help bring us closer to the goal that no family should have to travel more than 35 minutes or 35 miles to receive the life changing services Fraser provides. You can help make this a reality for Minnesota families by registering for the Fraser Walk for Autism today.

Whether you are a walker, volunteer, or financial supporter, Fraser is truly grateful for your involvement in the 2017 Fraser Walk for Autism.

This Fraser Walk for Autism Toolkit contains useful information regarding your participation. Should you have any questions regarding the Fraser Walk for Autism, please contact me.

Thank You,Carrie MillerFraser • Special Events [email protected] • 612-798-8363

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? While the Fraser Walk for Autism is geared toward families, EVERYONE is welcome. The Fraser Walk for Autism brings together thousands of people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

IS THERE A REGISTR ATION FEE? There is NO registration fee, however, walk participants are expected and encouraged to fundraise. Individual walkers are recommended a personal fundraising goal of $200 – the cost of an autism evaluation. We encourage each Walk team to set a goal of $1,000.

HOW DO I REGISTER? You can register as a team or an individual by using the URL below. We strongly encourage participants to pre–register online.

1. Visit The Fraser Walk for Autism page at www.fraser.org/register2walk.2. Click the “Register” button 3. Choose to register as an individual, join a team or start a team 4. Fill out your personal information and start fundraising

R ALLY A TEAM Teams are a fun way to encourage each other’s fundraising efforts and to meet up the day of the Walk. Teams can be as small or as large as you want – we have had teams of two up to teams of thirty.

To register a team for the Walk, you first want to designate a team captain. This person will be the point person for communication between team members. Once the team captain registers their team online, they can send out our email templates to recruit additional team members, assign a co-captain and register any ‘secondary’ participants such as children.

FUNDRAISING FOR THE FRASER WALK FOR AUTISM

INDIVIDUAL WALKER GOAL: $200

FR ASER WALK TEAM GOAL: $1,000

The Fraser Walk for Autism helps Fraser raise important funds to provide programs and services for children and adults with autism. 100% of the funds raised at the event help Minnesota families affected by autism. See below for some helpful tips:

• DON’T BE AFR AID TO ASK . You will be surprised how many people are willing to support a worthy cause.

• GET STARTED EARLY. The more time you have to spread the word, the more donations you will receive.

• FUNDR AISE ONLINE . It’s easy and people often make larger donations online than with cash or check. Emails and social media can maximize your reach and increase the donations.

• TELL YOUR STORY. Sharing your personal story of why you are walking will motivate people and may help you recruit more team members.

• HOLD YOUR OWN FUNDR AISER . If you have a walk team, holding your own fundraiser such as a car wash or bake sale can help bring in additional revenue. All expenses for independent fundraisers are incurred by the walk team. Contact Fraser for more info on how we can support your team.

• SHARE THE IMPACT OF THEIR GIFT. Make sure you communicate the importance of supporting Fraser. Research shows that early intervention is the best tool for those living with autism. Here are some additional ways gifts to the Fraser Walk for Autism help Fraser:

• Parents and teachers are empowered with knowledge from our workshops• Young adults on the autism spectrum confidently set out on career paths• Children at Fraser School grow into kindergarten–ready learners

WAYS TO ASK • Face to Face: Even in the age of technology, nothing beats a face to face ask. Although this can be intimidating, you

will be surprised how many people will be willing to support you. The face to face ask is especially helpful for asking the people closest to you AND the people you know the least, such as business owners.

• Emails: Send emails from your personal fundraising page to request support. You can use our pre-written email templates or choose to personalize your message by sharing why you are walking. It’s the easiest way to get your donors to your fundraising page to make a gift.

• Social Media: Our fundraising page makes it quick and easy to share your personal fundraising page on social media. You can use the social media post template or customize your own.

• Phone Calls: Phone calls are a great way to follow up with people. It gives you a chance to personally speak to why you are participating in the walk and how their gift helps Fraser.

DOUBLE YOUR DONATIONS WITH MATCHING GIFTS Maximize the impact of your gift by requesting a matching gift from your employer. Many companies allow you to request a matching gift online, making it quick and easy. Contact your human resources department for more information on submitting matching gifts. You can also view a list of companies that offer matching gifts by visiting fraser.org/GivingMethods and selecting the “participate in a matching gift program.”
