THE LAZZY BAND (Saturday Evening 10.30pm)VW enthusiasts, hailing from Liverpool, the boysknow how to raise the roof - playing their ownversions of songs and anthems made famous bythe likes of Led Zeppelin, The Who, The RollingStones and Dr Feelgood. Ivan is best known asthe editor of Volksworld Magazine, but his recordcollection and DJ career cover the whole history ofdance music. Ivan will be storming the decks -followed swiftly by Jazz T.

Fresh from Ibiza, Jazz T was the 1999 UK ITFAdvancement champion and has played to capacitycrowds all over the world from China to Australia toHawaii and back again. Once again we’vedressed the stage like a full-on West End Musical -transforming it into ‘Jensen’s Cemetary’ completewith giant props - and we’re hoping that you go theextra mile with your costumes too. On pastexperience it’s certain most visitors will.

ACTION STATIONS‘Best Of Show’ for each of the four categories. Pleasebe assured we take the Show & Shine very seriouslyat VW Action and this format has been arrived atover many hours’ deliberation, by judges whose onlyconcern is to see that the most deserving vehiclesare rewarded with a trophy. Sincea number of people use two wheels to cruise theevent venue, we have decided that in recognitionof the ingenuity and engineering skills on display,we’d like to assemble the best examples in oneplace. Two trophies - ‘Runner-Up’ and ‘Best Of Show’- with the ‘Best Of Show’ winning the ‘Snob’ Cruisertoo. There will be a preview lineup of bikes onSaturday in front of the Main Marquee. The lineupwill be reassembling on Sunday and judging willONLY take place on the Sunday.

VW Action 16 and under Show & ShineSunday only - the VW Action Show & Shine willinclude a display of ‘vehicles’ owned by 16s andunder - VW owners of the future. Vehicles enteredfor this class can be bikes, pedal cars, scoots, cartssuch as radio flyers, tot rods - in fact any wheeled‘transport’. We have been highly encouraged by thenumbers and quality in the last few years and hopeto see even greater numbers this year. This is agreat opportunity for the younger enthusiast to beactively involved. Trophies will be awarded for‘Winner’ and ‘Runner-Up’. Please bring your ‘ride’to the Show & Shine Arena by midday Sunday -there is no display of this class on Saturday. Thismeans that you have all of Saturday to perhapsarrange for some pinstriping detail, courtesy of ourresident stripers and polish and clean your ‘rides’.Potential Exhibitors/Parents please note entry is ‘onthe day’. Entry forms, which will be supplied inthe Show & Shine arena by the marshalls, must befully completed and attached to the vehicle.

CONCOURS COMPETITIONSFEATURING ‘EUROPE’S MOSTBEAUTIFUL VW’VW Action has always been at the forefront of Show& Shine/Concours events. For many years Actionhas been a leader, not a follower. A few years ago,the show broke with the tradition of a class basedstructure, for one simple, very good reason. Toomany great cars were leaving without a trophy,especially in the most hotly contested classes. The‘Top Twenty’ format at Action has now been takenup by many other shows, as it is the means bywhich the greatest number of deserving cars arerewarded with a trophy.

The scale of the VW Action Show & Shine however,means that there are separate ‘top ten’ prizewinnersfor Custom Air Cooled and Water Cooled cars and‘top fives’ for Stock/Standard. The Show & ShineConcours takes place on Sunday, with Saturdaybeing reserved for the ‘EDV’ (Every Day Vehicle), atrailer queen free zone, exclusively for cars whichsee regular use on the road. None of the show carcompetitions at VW Action have an entry charge,so if your car attracts admiring glances, be sure toenter in the appropriate free Show & Shinecompetition.

Our judges recognise the different considerationsinvolved in ‘daily drivers’. If your vehicle is youreveryday transport then it’s not expected to beflawless, so don’t be shy. In this competitionespecially, cars that are genuinely ‘dailies’ often winout over cars that are immaculate but arequestionably in ‘frequent’ use. We would notdiscourage anyone from taking part, but please, ifyou don’t win anything try again on Sunday. Entry inthis event is a MUST if you are proud of your VW.

1. Ten mph on site please, anyone ‘speeding’ or drivingin a dangerous manner will be evicted. No warning,no refund, no messing.

2. No bonfires/camp fires but barbies are OK as long asthey’re raised off the ground.

3. Noise curfew is at midnight. Any unauthorised soundsystems will be confiscated - we’re not being Nazis -VW Action is a family event - please respect yourneighbours and let them get some sleep.

4. Help us to keep the site clean and tidy, please use thebins and rubbish bags handed to you upon arrival.VW Action Information Centre has more if required.

5. Stay out of restricted areas. Please observe signage.6. No driving on site (apart from arrival). No parking on

the roadways. All exits and access points must bekept clear.

7. Please keep valuables locked in your car or on yourperson. Sadly, large events attract scumbags too.

8. Medical assistance can be found in the area adjacentto the VW Action Information Centre.

9. No ‘unauthorised’ trading on site.10. No glass bottles, fireworks or pets on site please.11. No mopeds, go-peds, monkey bikes, or similar to be

used on site.12. Security are your friends - but they can’t be

We would liketo see all clubs attending doing a bit more than justcoralling their cars and tents. Promote your club byputting on your own display with your best cars inthe Show & Shine area. It is also really important tous that you enjoy the privileged camping area laidout just for your club. To ensure that we can get thetraditional VW Action ambience in the club area,please please try to be accurate with your vehiclenumbers when you book. PODZILLA MONSTER TRUCK SHOWPodzilla will be crushing everything in its path onboth Saturday and Sunday, to give a few ‘tired’saloon cars a fitting end. It is a show absolutelynot to be missed. (No VWs will be harmed in thepresentation of this spectacle.) For thetechnophiles, The Podzilla Monster Truck is aChevrolet CK1500 body, powered by a methanolguzzling supercharged 502 cubic inch (8.2 litre)Chevrolet V8 developing 1350 horsepower. Heweighs in at around 10,000 pounds.

CAMPERVAN COOKOFFSunday NoonThe Campervan Cookoff at VW Action 2013, sawMichelle Edwards & Darren Knight taking the‘Campervan Masterchef’ title. The marquee waspretty packed, and the VW Action Cookoff was ahuge success, enjoyed by all, but particularly bythe Judges. It is a ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ stylecompetition, where contestants have to cook up agourmet meal in their campers, with all contestantsbeing provided with the same ingredients for amaximum of 4 competitors/teams. To take part thisyear, you will need to have registered at the VWAction Information Office before entries close onSunday at 11.00am. You will of course need yourown Campervan with cooking facilities. Pleaseremember to have plenty of cooking gas.

FIREFORCE JET CARThe awesome ‘Fireforce 3 Jet Funny Car’, clockeda 5.793 second run at 336.10mph when settingthe world record. And if anyone is going to betterthose numbers it will probably be the Fireforceteam themselves. RADIO CONTROLLED DRAG RACINGThis has been a resounding success at recent VWAction shows. Open to anyone to come along andexperience the excitement of Drag Racing only inminiature (1/10th scale to be precise), from all agesand skill levels.Signing on will be from 10.00am Saturday only- with racing commencing from 11.00am. Thetrack will be set up in the Monster Truck Arena.

BRAD’S ‘ZOMBIE SKULL’ COCONUT SHYIn 2009 many people bade farewell to the ‘Chop Shop GangsterCar’ in their own way, ‘giving it a whack for Brads’, which helpedthe show raise a substantial sum for the charity and 2010 saw‘Brad’s Buckaroo’ raise more money as folk tried to stack themost boxes on the roofrack of a Bug (along the lines of the MBGames Buckaroo game.) In 2011 we had a ‘Pirate Treasure Hunt’and for 2012 NAS Events supplied/donated a ‘Grease’ Peep-Thru’Photo Board which was a major success. We continued in asimilar vein for 2013 with the Superman and Wonder WomanPeep-Thru’ Photo Boards. For 2014, VW Action have provided a‘Zombie Skull’ Coconut Shy.
