Sandvik steel belts
Sandvik steel belts are available in a range of different
sizes and specifications to meet the requirements of
applications as diverse as food handling, chemical pro-
cessing and film casting.
Specific processes for which steel belts are widely used
include conveying, cooling, freezing, drying, baking and
pressing. Steel belts are an extremely versatile process
medium capable of meeting a wide range of process
conditions. They are available in either carbon or stainless
steel and can be supplied in a choice of finishes including:
· solid, smooth
· perforated
· ground or polished
· coated
· surface textured
Material
· Carbon steel belts
· Stainless steel belts
The benefits of steel belt conveying in a compact, modular design
Delivering customized conveying and processing
solutions
Steel belts are the ideal medium for a range of conveying
applications and we have a specialist team in place to help
you reap the full benefit of this technology. From the
suitability of different steel belt grades for particular
applications to belt tracking systems, belt wear/abrasion
and fatigue calculations, the know-how and experience
of our steel belt conveyor specialists is available to you
for the development of customized application solutions.
Full support for equipment suppliers and own-build
projects
We offer full range of equipment and components for
customers looking to design and build their own conveyor
systems, including pulleys, belt control equipment and
of course the steel belt itself (see below for details of our
steel belt conveyor components). Our specialist team can
also provide as much engineering support and advice as
required.
Complete, individually-designed steel belt conveyor
systems
As specialists in steel belt-based conveying, we can also
work with equipment suppliers and end users to provide
individually-optimized, ready-to-operate solutions based
on a customer’s specific technical requirements and
process parameters.
Compact, modular Sandvik steel belt conveyor
systems
The use of steel belt systems to solve specific conveying
and processing challenges has recently seen a move
towards more compact systems. Responding to this
demand, and drawing upon our 110 years’ experience
in steel belts, we have developed a new, compact steel
belt conveyor system.
The design is modular in nature, enabling key system
parameters (pulley centre distance, belt width, etc) to be
individually adapted. The system also makes use of an
open-sided design to enable quick and easy replacement
of the endless steel belt. Other innovative features of
this compact steel belt conveyor include a quick and
easy-to-use tensioning unit, an efficient drum-motor
drive, and a lightweight frame structure which combines
low weight with high stiffness and strength.
Steel belt conveyor systems with a pulley centre distance
of up to 3 m can be supplied fully preassembled. Our steel
belt conveyor systems are characterized by thin steel belts,
small-diameter pulleys, high strength and ease of cleaning.

Sheaves – are used in short and / or low loaded conveyors instead of terminal drums.
Bearings – different types of bearings are available.
Small belt tracking, SBT – will ensure a correct and smooth belt movement.
Automated tracking, AT – will ensure a correct belt movement.
Compact belt tracking, CBT – will ensure a correct belt movement.
Spring loaded guide rollers, SLGR – with this passive tracking device it is possible to handle situations when the running condition is variable.
Shafts – standard shafts are used together with sheaves, available for belt widths up to 1 500 mm.
Spring loaded guide rollers, pairs, SLGRp – a passive tracking device.
Belt edge detector, BED – is a device, which enables an easy way to keep track of the belt edge.
Solid belt support, bars –belts in ovens are supported by skid bars of special cast iron, placed transversally underneath the belt.
