You may think yourhouse is perfect justthe way it is, but aprospective buyer maynot see it that way. Togive your home "curbappeal" and make itmore attractive to buy-ers, there are sometasks you should seeto before you placethat "For Sale" sign inyour front yard.Many of these sug-gestions are simple,common-sense items;others will requiresome time and invest-ment. But you'll reapthe rewards when abuyer walks into yourhouse and exclaims,"This is the home I've
been waiting for!"1. If your home needsto be painted, this isthe time to do it. Theinterior paint jobshould be fresh andclean and in a single,neutral color through-out. This is not thetime to experiment withlilac walls in the bed-room. The same goesfor the exterior. Don'tforget shutters andwindows. If your homehas vinyl or aluminumsiding, be sure it'sclean. Moldy, dirty sid-ing will tell a buyer thatyour home has notbeen taken care ofproperly.2. The green shag
carpeting still gracingyour floors should bereplaced. Old, mattedcarpeting will be adetriment to yourhome selling. Real es-tate agents all have adozen stories of ahome that sat and saton the market until theold carpeting was re-placed. Then, it soldimmediately. If youhave hardwood floorsunder old carpet, tearup the carpet to ex-pose them; today'sbuyers love hardwoodfloors.3. Make a list of allthose little repairsyou've let go. Then fixeach one. The hole inthe screen, the loosedoorknob, the doorbellthat doesn't work andthe leaky faucet mustall be repaired beforebuyers start looking atyour home.4.
