SAMMAN produces beautiful and practical travelling accessories for the Scandinavian customer. The company is sustainable to it's core, every element of the value-chain is carefully created in order to produce fair trade and reduce the environmental impact. The company aims to provide jobs in India, where unemployment is a growing issue, and do it with respecting the cultural environment. The styles are designed from 100% handwoven cotton and screwpine which is a traditionally used crop.

At Samman we believe that creating great design should not go beyond our planet, we believe the fu-ture of design should take care of our environment and address the challenges we as an industry faces.
At Samman we create products with a story. By hav-ing a close relationship with our suppliers we ensure good conditions and fair payment for all our workers. The materials are 100% natural, and not treat-ed with any chemicals. The cotton is made from a very ancient local fabric called the “thorthu” that is hand-made at traditional wooden looms.The screwpine is traditionally used for sleeping mats, due too its great water resisting and non-heat absorbing qual-ities. It is woven by hand the traditional way on the floor. We combine the old Indian traditions with our own Scandinavian aesthetics, to create products we a unique design and a unique story. The story about cultural meetings, the story of tradition and pride.
