Press Release 28 May 2017 Salomon Gore-Tex® MaXi-Race: Exertion and emotion in extreme heat Over the weekend, around 7500 runners from 46 countries took to the trails in the mountains around lake Annecy, with around 20,000 visitors to MaXiVillage and its 42 exhibitors promoting various outdoor sports brands and races. The heat and the glorious sunshine reigned throughout all the races of the Salomon GoreTex ® MaXi Race, and with the runners taking a welldeserved, refreshing dip in the lake, there was a true holiday atmosphere at plage d'Albigny. On Sunday morning, all the finishers, from races that had started either the previous day or on the morning itself, were happy to cross the finish line since despite all the recommendations, a lot of runners suffered dehydration and many were not able to finish. The public was there in force to cheer them on applaud their efforts. A great accomplishment for all the runners and the 500 volunteers on the ground! Saturday 27 May UltraRace 110 km – 7000 m+ The French runners François D’Haene and Caroline Chaverot dominated the first UltraRace (110 km and 7000 m+). Both were in the lead almost from start to finish despite the presence of strong outsiders such as Max King of the USA and Andréa Huser of Switzerland. Numbers Starters: 774 of which 51 ladies (6.59% of starters) Finishers: 478 (61.76% of starters) of which ladies: 37 (7.74% of finishers) (72.55% of ladies’ starters) Nonfinishers: 291 (37.60% of starters) MaXiRace 83 km – 5200 m+ After 2014, an emotional Sébastien Spehler took the victory in the MaXiRace for the second time. It was a tough race, which made winning all the more important to him. Michel Lanne was never far behind, but Sébastien was the stronger of the two. Perrine Tramoni of La Réunion won the ladies race. She dominated throughout and in 10h50 took the first major win of her career.
