Hymn 273 Te Deum
Holy God, we praise thy Name; Lord Almighty we confess thee; All
the earth doth thee acclaim And in awe and wonder bless thee. Thou,
who wast before all time, Art eternal, high, sublime.
2 Cherubim and seraphim, Ev’ry creature that can praise thee,
All, for ever, join the hymn Angels and archangels raise thee,
Crying out with one accord, Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord.

Sentence of Scripture, page 21The Lord is in his holy temple:
let all the earth keep silence before him. Hab. ii. 20
Officiant:LET us humbly confess our sins unto Almighty God.
(Please kneel.)
Officiant and People:ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father; We have
erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed
too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have
offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things
which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we
ought not to have done; And there is no health in us. But thou, O
Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou those, O
God, who confess their faults. Restore thou those who are penitent;
According to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our
Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake; That we may
hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, To the glory of
thy holy Name. Amen.
Officiant:ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who of his great
mercy hath promised forgiveness of sins to all those who with
hearty repentance and true faith turn unto him; Have mercy upon
you; pardon and deliver you from all your sins; confirm and
strengthen you in all goodness; and bring you to everlasting life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer, page 24Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth
as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive
us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And
lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is
the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.
Amen.

The First Lesson Hosea 11:1-4 and 13:5-16When Israel was a
child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt. As they
called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim,
and burned incense to graven images. I taught Ephraim also to go,
taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I had healed
them. I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I
was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I
laid meat unto them.
I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.
According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled,
and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.
Therefore will I be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way
will I observe them: I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of
her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I
devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them. O Israel,
thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help. I will be thy
king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? And
thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes? I gave
thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath. The
iniquity of Ephraim is

bound up; his sin is hid. The sorrows of a travailing woman
shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay
long in the place of the breaking forth of children. I will ransom
them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O
death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction:
repentance shall be hid from mine eyes. Though he be fruitful among
his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall
come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and
his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all
pleasant vessels. Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath
rebelled against her God.

The Second Lesson Galatians 6:11-18Ye see how large a letter I
have written unto you with mine own hand. As many as desire to make
a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised;
only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.
For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but
desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.
But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord
Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto
the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth
anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as
walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon
the Israel of God. From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I
bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. Brethren, the grace of

Collect for the Day, page 122O LORD, who hast taught us that all
our doings without charity are nothing worth; Send thy Holy Ghost,
and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of charity, the
very bond of peace and of all virtues, without which whosoever
liveth is counted dead before thee. Grant this for thine only Son
Jesus Christ’s sake Amen.
Collect for Peace, page 31O GOD, from whom all holy desires, all
good counsels, and all just works do proceed; Give unto thy
servants that peace which the world cannot give; that our hearts
may be set to obey thy commandments, and also that by thee, we,
being defended from the fear of our enemies, may pass our time in
rest and quietness; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Saviour.
Amen.
A Collect for Aid against Perils, page 31LIGHTEN our darkness,
we beseech thee, O Lord; and by thy great mercy defend us from all
Perils and dangers of this night; for the love of thy only Son, our
Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
A Prayer for all Conditions of Men, page 32O GOD, the Creator
and Preserver of all mankind, we humbly beseech thee for all sorts
and conditions of men; that thou wouldest be pleased to make thy
ways known unto them, thy saving health unto all nations. More
especially we pray for thy holy Church universal; that it may he so
guided and governed by thy good Spirit, that all who profess and
call themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and
hold the faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in
righteousness of life. Finally, we commend to thy fatherly goodness
all those who are any ways afflicted, or distressed, in mind, body,
or estate; that it may please thee to comfort and

them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all
their afflictions. And this we beg for Jesus Christ’s sake.
Amen.
Officiant and People:A General Thanksgiving, page 33ALMIGHTY
God, Father of all mercies, we, thine unworthy servants, do give
thee most humble and hearty thanks for all thy goodness and
loving-kindness to us, and to all men. We bless thee for our
creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but
above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the
world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the
hope of glory. And, we beseech thee, give us that due sense of all
thy mercies, that our hearts may he unfeignedly thankful: and that
we show forth thy praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives,
by giving up our selves to thy service, and by walking before thee
in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ
our Lord, to whom, with thee and the Holy Ghost, be all honour and
glory, world without end. Amen.
Officiant:A Prayer of St. ChrysostomALMIGHTY God, who hast given
us grace at this time with one accord to make our common
supplications unto thee; and dost promise that when two or three
are gathered together in thy Name thou wilt grant their requests;
Fulfil now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of thy servants, as
may be most expedient for them; granting us in this world knowledge
of thy truth, and in the world to come life everlasting. Amen.
The Grace, page 34THE grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the
love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost, be with us all
evermore. Amen.

Hymn 282 Lauda Anima
Praise, my soul, the King of heaven; To his feet thy tribute
bring; Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, Evermore his praises
sing: Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise the everlasting King.
2 Praise him for his grace and favor To our fathers in distress;
Praise him still the same as ever, Slow to chide, and swift to
bless: Alleluia! Alleluia! Glorious in his faithfulness.
3 Father-like he tends and spares us; Well our feeble frame he
knows; In his hand he gently bears us, Rescues us from all our
foes. Alleluia! Alleluia! Widely yet his mercy flows.
4 Angels, help us to adore him; Ye behold him face to face; Sun
and moon, bow down before him, Dwellers all in time and space.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise with us the God of grace.

The Seven Christian Habits
One of the key purposes of the Church is to build up Christian
disciples, “little Christs” who express their mature, loving trust
in God through spiritual discipline and service to others. These
“Seven Christian Habits” express the seven key practices or
disciplines through which mature Christians express their loving
trust in God. They are drawn from the life of Christ as revealed in
all four Gospels.
1. A personal, intimate relationship (through the Holy Spirit)
with God as He is revealed in Jesus Christ in which I believe and
trust in Him and His love for me and for my salvation in this life
and the life to come2. Daily personal prayer and weekly worship of
God in His Church by which I receive the renewal of my
emotional-spiritual energy which I need to live my life3. Regular
study of the Bible to understand how God has related to His people
and what His will has been in the past and is today4. Adjusting my
will to the will of God for me as revealed in Scripture, prayer,
worship, and my relationship with Him5. Service (which is ministry,
which is loving, which is doing good to God, others, and self ): a.
At home to family and friends b. At work to co-workers c. At Church
d. In the world by leading others to Christ, by helping those in
need, and by working for justice and peace6. Fellowship (renewing
relationship) with Christian people7. Stewardship of my resources:
a. Of my relationships b. Of my time and talent c. Of my money,
giving to God and His work; my tithe (as I calculate it)
These are the spiritual habits in which Christ was educated, and
which He shares with all His disciples so that we can find lasting
joy. If you and I cultivate and master these habits, we will enter
more deeply into the purpose of Christ’s education for us, which is
to help us know and rejoice in a loving trust in our Heavenly
Father, as He did. By embarking on the life-long spiritual
education that Jesus received and passed forward to us through the
Apostles and the generations of Christians since their times, we
discover the fulfillment we seek for ourselves and we become better
equipped to join in Christ’s work to save the world that He
created, entered into, and for which He gave His life.
