HAPPY NEW YEAR! My prayer is that all of you receive God’s choicest blessings in this New Year of 2016. I pray that our world will be open to the peace of Christ and that war and hatred will give way to the peace and love of God.
As we remember the Holy Family and Solemn Feast of Mary, the Mother of God, let us rejoice that our God is with us and that His justice and peace may reign!
I feel truly blessed to serve all of you, the vibrant community of faith at St. Joseph’s.
A note of thanks to all those who made our Christmas celebrations so beautiful.
Thanks to all who volunteered to help decorate our Church for Christmas. The Church truly looks so beauti-ful. Thank you for your time, love and dedication.
Thanks to our Hospitality Committee under the leadership of Valerie Garafalo. They do such a wonderful job with many of our parish receptions.
A Special thanks to all of our Priests- Fr. Caruso, Fr. Jude, Deacon George, Deacon Larry, our Pastoral Staff, Richard Casterella, Marina Rojas, Diana McLoughlin, Ushers, Altar Servers, Adult Altar Servers, Extraordi-nary Ministers of Holy Communion, Lectors, Our Director of Sacred Music, Mr. Joseph Nigro along with our Cantors, Instrumentalists, Adult Choir, Youth Choir and Contemporary Ensemble. All of these ministries help us pray better as a community of faith.
Thanks to the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph’s Seniors Group for their generous outreach to the needy in our community as well as the countless parishioners who contacted me to donate to our brothers and sisters in need.
A big thank you to all of our parishioners who were so generous in their donations to the Christmas collec-tion. Your financial support helps us continue the good work we do here at St. Joseph’s.
Whether it was your time, talent or treasure – God bless you!

BLOOD DRIVE Monday, December 28th
Dear fellow parishioners. Once again it is that time of year when we give gifts to our loved ones in the spirit of the Magi who traveled to Bethlehem to give homage to the
baby Jesus. In that spirit we are asking you to con-sider giving the gift of live to those in need this Christmas Season.
St. Joseph’s Blood drive will be Monday, Decem-ber 28th, in the school auditorium from 2 PM un-til 8 PM. At this time of year when everyone is out shopping or traveling to visit family, the need for blood becomes more acute.
We always welcome walk-ins so if you are unsure, feel free to make a last minute decision. We accept donations from healthy individuals between the ages of 16 and 75. Once you have reached your 76th birthday, a note from your doctor telling us that you are healthy enough to donate will be need-ed and 16 year olds will need permission from a parent. Please bring a photo ID. If you would like to volunteer to assist the team in registering and assisting donors on December 28th, please contact Dan Sudlik at [email protected] or 914-276-3125. Once again, please consider giving the gift of life.

Prayer for the Year of Mercy Lord Jesus Christ, You have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, And you have told us that whoever sees you sees Him. Show us your face and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being enslaved by money; the adulteress and Magdalene from seek-ing happiness only in created things; made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief. Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that you spoke to the Samaritan woman: “If you knew the gift of God!” You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests his power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the Church be your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified. You willed that your ministers would also be clothed in weak-ness in order that they may feel compassion for those in igno-rance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God. Send your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anoint-ing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind. We ask this through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mer-cy, you who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen
