8 August 2021 Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
From the Desk of the Pastor...
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
The Gospel reading for Mass this Sunday continues Saint John’s reflection on Jesus as the Bread of Life. Unlike our ancestors who ate manna in the desert and died, all who eat this bread will live forever. The “sanctifying grace” that we receive in Holy Communion
incorporates us into the Life of Heaven. Thus, ordinary human beings may become
extraordinary saints for the Kingdom of God.
In the letter to the Ephesians we are warned that we are not to grieve the Holy Spirit that we have received in the sacrament of Baptism. We must be kind to one another, full of
compassion and love. All bitterness, fury, anger, and malice are to be removed from our community, our family, our hearts. We are to be imitators of Jesus Christ. This is a message that all of us need to put into daily practice.
The work on the Church continues to go forward. The electrical work is almost completed and then we can move forward with the painting of the interior walls and the ceiling.
Let us continue to pray for one another.
In Christ,
Fr. Thomas
