Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

In this episode of today’s Gospel, is

announcing the second Sunday of Lent: The Transfiguration. It is good

that in our Lenten exercise we re-ceive that brilliant sun and shining

light in Jesus' face and clothes. It is a

marvelous icon to redeemed man-kind, which no longer appears in the

ugliness of sin, but in all the beauty divinity turns our flesh into. Peter's

well-being is the expression of what we feel when we let the divine grace

fill us.

The Holy Spirit also transfigures the Apostles' senses, and thanks to this

they can witness the divine glory of the Man Jesus. Transfigured eyes to

see what shines most; transfigured

ears to hear the truest and most sub-lime voice: that of the Father who

rejoices in his Son. Altogether, too impressive for us, rather used to

grayish mediocrity. Only if we let Our

Lord touch us with his Grace, our senses will be able to see and hear

that which is most beautiful and most joyful, in God, and in those made

holy by him, who raised from the dead.

Christian spirituality -John Paul II has

written- has as a characteristic the disciple's duty to gradually and fully

shape himself with his Master, in such a way that through an assidu-

ousness we could call "friendly"- we

get to the point of breathing his senses. Let us put in the Virgin

Mary's hands the milestone of our true "trans-figuration" in her Son Je-

sus Christ. My dear brethren, during this time

we have been inviting you all to par-

ticipate at the preparation for the Saint Joseph table which is going to

be on March 19th, to the ones who have been there my deepest grati-

tude for all you do and to the rest of

the saint Anthony’s family I person-ally invite you all to please come and

help or be at the celebration Saint Anthony, Pray for us.

As you know, our Church is very con-

cerned about the plight of immigrants,

most especially those in our nation who

came as children and now stand at risk of

deportation. Our national episcopal con-

ference is now asking all the faithful to

appeal to Congress on behalf of these

vulnerable souls. Monday February 26

has been set as a day for us to call

Congress and make our voices heard.

SUNDAY : SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT FEBRUARY 25, 2017

Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas:

En el Evangelio de hoy, en este episo-

dio propio del segundo domingo de Cuaresma: la Transfiguración.

Es bueno que en nuestro ejercicio cua-

resmal acojamos este estallido de sol y de luz en el rostro y en los vestidos de

Jesús. Son un maravilloso icono de la humanidad redimida, que ya no se pre-

senta en la fealdad del pecado, sino en toda la belleza que la divinidad comuni-

ca a nuestra carne. El bienestar de Pe-dro es expresión de lo que uno siente

cuando se deja invadir por la gracia

divina. El Espíritu Santo transfigura también

los sentidos de los Apóstoles, y gracias a esto pueden ver la gloria divina del

Hombre Jesús. Ojos transfigurados para ver lo que resplandece más; oídos

transfigurados para escuchar la voz más sublime y verdadera: la del Padre

que se complace en el Hijo. Todo en

conjunto resulta demasiado sorpren-dente para nosotros, avezados como

estamos al grisáceo de la mediocridad. Sólo si nos dejamos tocar por el Señor,

nuestros sentidos serán capaces de ver y de escuchar lo que hay de más bello

y gozoso, en Dios, y en los hombres divinizados por Aquel que resucitó en-

tre los muertos.

La espiritualidad cristiana -ha escrito San Juan Pablo II- tiene como carac-

terística el deber del discípulo de confi-gurarse cada vez más plenamente con

su Maestro, de tal manera que -a través de una asiduidad que podríamos

llamar "amistosa"- lleguemos hasta el punto de respirar sus sentimientos.

Pongamos en manos de Santa María la

meta de nuestra verdadera "trans-figuración" en su Hijo Jesucristo.

muy preocupada por la difícil situa-

ción de los inmigrantes, especialmen-

te los de nuestra nación, que llegaron

de niños y corren el riesgo de ser

deportados. Nuestra Conferencia

Episcopal Nacional está pidiendo a

todos los fieles que apelen al Congre-

so en nombre de estas almas vulne-

rables. El lunes 26 de febrero es el

día establecido como un día para lla-

mar al Congreso y hacer que nues-

tras voces sean escuchadas. Encon-
