In a world where demands for payback and “gotcha” moments are all too common, we are encouraged to lower the temperature of the rhetoric and reflect the heart of our merciful and loving God. If last year’s Year of Mercy is to mean anything, we are called to continue to show God’s mercy and forgiveness all through our lives. Readings for this Week (Feb. 20-25) Monday: Sirach 1:1-10; Mark 9:14-29 Tuesday: Sirach 2:1-11; Mark 9:30-37 Wednesday: 1 Peter 5:1-4; Matthew 16:13-19 Thursday: Sirach 5:1-8; Mark 9:41-50 Friday: Sirach 6:5-17; Mark 10:1-12 Saturday: Sirach 17:1-15: Mark 10:13-16 Scripture for next Sunday (8th/Ordinary) Isaiah 49:14-15 “I will never forget you.” 1 Corinthians 4:1-5 The Lord manifests the motives of our hearts. Matthew 6:24-34 Do not worry about tomorrow. The reassuring message of our sacred scriptures next Sunday is that God will not forget us. We can trust in our loving God who cares for us more than for any other creature. We can rest in God alone and set aside our concerns about the future. PROJECT LIFESAVER Presentation Monday, February 20 at 7 p.m. The Knights of Columbus would like to invite all Parish Members and guests to a presentation by Parishioner, Sheriff Jack Weisenburger, this Monday , Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. at the KofC Hall (125 185th St., Bristol, TN). Refreshments will be provided and attendees are asked to bring a canned food donation. The topic is PROJECT LIFESAVER. Citizens enrolled wear a small personal transmitter that emits a tracking signal. This assists emergency personnel in locating those who are at risk for wandering. Please attend and bring a guest if you wish. ATTENTION MEN!! The Men of St. Joachim group will meet Feb. 21 & 28, 6 a.m., in the Chapel. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Catechumens & Candidates meet this Wed., Feb. 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the Great Room. Topic: Universal Call to Holiness. Presenter: Fr. Stephen Inquirers also meet on Wednesdays at 6:30 in the Conference room. Please come to the Great Room for opening prayer before going to the conference room.
