Meditation for Human Integration 1
Meditation for Human Integration
1
Sahaj Marg is a simplified form of Raja Yoga that offers training in spirituality irrespective of race, religion, caste, color, occupation or gender, thereby promoting the feeling of love and mutual brotherhood. Through the Sahaj Marg system of meditation, practitioners go on a inner journey of discovery into their heart that helps them to better themselves each day and live a balanced life in this troubled world.
Sahaj Marg ashrams have an environment of an ancient gurukula, with trainees living under ashram conditions, providing for a comfortable life in a spartan setting, but spiritually enriched.
Every day, in its ashrams and in hundreds of centres worldwide, individuals from all walks of life—diverse nationalities, religious backgrounds, social and economic circumstances—come together, transcending boundaries in an atmosphere of love, trust and brotherhood.
Sahaj Marg is taught world-wide free of cost. It is practiced daily by people from all backgrounds and all cultures, and is easily integrated into a busy lifestyle, bringing balance,
joy and spiritual growth.
2
To widen the scope of the services offered by Sahaj Marg to society, a public charitable trust called the “Sahaj Marg Spirituality Foundation” (SMSF) was formed in 2003.
The activities undertaken by SMSF since its inception in 2003 are as below:
Providing free medical services to the public through its Medical centers.
To offer training in spirituality under the Sahaj Marg system of Raja Yoga meditation irrespective of race, religion, caste, color, occupation or gender, thereby promoting the feeling of mutual brotherhood.
Carrying out Spiritual Research and Training activities through its facilities called CREST (Center for Research Education Sadhana and training).
Organizing study groups, conducting seminars, workshops for the youth etc.
Conducting International Scholarship Training Programs to deepen the understanding of the Sahaj Marg system of Raja Yoga Meditation.

The Free Medical Centre in Chennai is situated in Manapakkam Village. The
Facility commenced in the year 2005 and has been serving over 80,000
patients per annum.
To serve more patients more effectively, the management had designed a
simple but effective procedure to ensure all the basic information, blood
pressure, weight etc. of the patient are recorded before they enter the
doctor‟s cabin. This allows the doctor to spend more time on the diagnosis
and treatment.
There are currently 22 doctors (General Surgeon, Pediatrics, Neurologist,
Gynecology, Cardiology, Dentist, Homeopathy, Physiotherapist, General
Physician etc.) who provide their services at our SMSF Free Medical Center
in Chennai.

Below are the details of the Specialist Camp conducted by SMSF in Satkhol in October
2014:
25
A Free Medical centre was inaugurated under the auspices of Sahaj Marg
Spirituality Foundation on 28th March 2010 in the Sahaj Marg Spirituality
Foundation Building in Vijayawada.
Ten doctors that belong to different disciplines and schools of medicine
have been rendering services in the FMC till date. In addition to offering
free medical consultation, free medicines are also being given to the
patients.
The centre is kept open on all Sundays from 9.00am -12.00 Noon.
SMSF Free Medical Centre, Vijayawada has also been organizing Free
Medical Specialist Camps and Cancer Awareness Camps in the nearby
villages
The FMC is currently organizing a Mega Medical Camp at IIIT Nuzvid for the
2000 resident students at the campus.
26
A cancer awareness and screening camp was organised for the abhyasis at the
Vijayawada Free Medical Centre on 21st September 2014.
This is the first time that an awareness and screening camp has been held for
cancer by SMSF Free Medical Services. About 320 people partook in this
Cancer Awareness Camp and got benefited.
The SMSF medical team went to great lengths in preparing for the camp.
Eminent doctors of various specialities offered their services voluntarily. The
doctors made Power point presentations on the causes and consequences of
cancer. Detailed lectures on carcinogens and the way they damage the human
being were presented.
145 female patients registered for a free health check-up at the camp. They
were provided consultations by the team of specialist doctors. All of them
were advised to go for PAP smear and mammogram tests.
27
A Free Dental Camp was organized at the SMSF Free Medical Centre
on 25th May 2014 in which about 130 people were treated. Six
medical practitioners, along with an intern volunteered their services
during the camp.
While undertaking the deontological activities, the doctors gave
inputs for a good dental health. The participants received insights
into various phenomena that were mostly neglected by the general
public.
The camp went on for 6 hours and the participants thanked the Sahaj
Marg Spirituality Foundation and the centre administration for
evincing interest in rendering free service to the society especially in
an area which has become a very expensive phenomenon.
28
A Mega medical camp at Pamarru was conducted under the auspices of SMSF
Free Medical Centre, Vijayawada on Sunday, 12-12-2010.
20 Doctors of various specialities not only offered their services but also
brought their technicians and paramedical staff and equipment to make the
camp a grand success.
Sufficient medicines to cater to about 1000 people were procured well in
advance and kept ready at the camp. Publicity regarding the free medical
camp was done in about 20 villages by distributing pamphlets and also through
print media and local TV channels. The venue selected was a marriage hall
which was huge enough and was ideally suited for camp of this magnitude.
Different cabins were arranged and equipped to suit the doctors of different
specialities at the venue.
About 700 patients availed the free medical consultation and received free
medicines.
29
30
Free Medical Camps are being organized in the SMSF Ashram in Tiruvallur
on the last Sunday of every month.

the SMSF ashram in Tiruvallur and would be completed by end of
2015. This hospital would provide free consultation in various
specialties and free medicines to the public.
The hospital building is about 16000 sq.ft with the following key

SMSF started functioning from Dec 2009 on all the Sundays from 9 am till 1 pm, with the
aim of providing the primary health care and outpatient services to the surrounding

surrounding villages.
School Health Programs are also conducted with pediatricians, dentists, orthopaedics and
ophthalmologists for medical check-ups for school children and early detection and
treatment of various pediatric disorders. These children are followed up regularly at the
FMC.
Health education is provided not only as an integral part of all consultations, but also as

CREST was established by the Sahaj Marg Spirituality Foundation (SMSF) with
the purpose of exposing participants to a variety of religions, cultures,
philosophies, and ideologies.
The aim is to inspire an appreciation both of the multiplicity of approaches
to the divine and of the single underlying essence in all religions and
philosophies.
Courses are conducted free of charge under the ancient gurukula concept,
with trainees living under ashram conditions, providing for a comfortable life
in a spartan setting, but spiritually enriched.
These courses are designed to cater to all dimensions of human existence:
the physical, the mental and intellectual, the moral, and the spiritual.
CREST Centres are resident schools where trainees in batches of 50-100
undergo intensive training. All participants are provided with free
accommodation and simple food so that full focus could be given to learning.
The first CREST Centre was set up in Kaggalipura near Bangalore. The
second CREST Centre is Kharagpur near Kolkata.
63
The CREST campus, set in sylvan surroundings and encircled by a flowing brook, is located in Bangalore, a city in the state of Karnataka, in the southern part of India.
The training courses at CREST Bangalore aim to reflect the panorama of existence of a well-rounded personality and designed to cater all aspects of existence:
• Intellectual Inquiry
• Spiritual Practice
• Reflection and Self-Introspection
Meditation Hall: The meditation hall, which is open on all sides, blends nicely into the natural surroundings.
Training Hall: All academic sessions take place in the training Hall, which is set up with a good acoustic system, and provisions for multimedia presentations.
Library: The CREST Library contains books and videos that have been personally selected by Rev. Master from around the world. The Library now has over 250 Lifetime Members.
64
Below are the programs which are being conducted in our CREST facility in Bangalore.
In 2014, a new format of workshops has been developed by CREST
(Bangalore) to motivate participants to introspect and explore different spiritual topics
like “Exploring the heart”, “Refining the Self”, “Embracing Life” etc.
This is a 5 day residential program held twice a month
for practicing abhyasis of Sahaj Marg residing in India. Salient features of the Sadhana
Program are as follows:
Intensive focus on Sadhana.
Facilitated discussions about aspects and nuances of Sahaj Marg Sadhana.
The CREST library available for abhyasis for spiritual research.
This is a 5 day residential program for practicing
abhyasis of Sahaj Marg in the age group of 20 - 30 yrs. Focus of the program would be on
subjects specific to youth.
“So I hope these courses will help each person to develop a broadminded approach with love and respect to each one’s own tradition and love, respect and forbearance for all other cultures and religions, because what this world needs today is not knowledge; it is patience, it is tolerance—two values which I believe can be developed only through spiritual practice. And that is what Sahaj Marg essentially offers to all of you and to everyone in the world.”

Rev. Chariji has envisioned the setting up of Spiritual Retreats so that yogic
trainees can retreat into themselves for some periods and get rejuvenated from
the stress and strains of the present day existence. According to him the
pressure on the life of people have considerably curtailed or adversely affected
the ability of the people to arrive at a balanced existence.
Retreat Centres are places where one leaves the material world behind, retire
in seclusion to introspect, meditate, brood over one‟s inner condition and re-
enter normal everyday life refreshed spiritually to face life with a renewed
sense of purpose, to restore balance to one‟s life. The retreat period may
extend from 3 days (minimum stay) to thirty days (maximum stay).
The Sahaj Marg Spirituality Foundation (SMSF) has established the following
retreat centres in India:
Malampuzha, Kerela
Pune, Maharashtra
"So here we look into ourselves, find ourselves as we are with the courage to look at what we see, and to accept what we see. Then comes the boldness and the determination to change what we see into what it should be. That is the culmination of yogic practice.” – P. Rajagopalachari (Chariji)
75
Sahaj Marg Spirituality Foundation‟s Spiritual Retreat Centre in Pune is located
in the village of Ghore Khurd, Taluka Haveli, District Pune. It is away from the
hustle and bustle of the city and has a serene and peaceful environment.
On March 14, 2008, Rev. Master inaugurated the SMSF Retreat Centre in Pune.
The facility includes a meditation hall, kitchen & dining area and dormitory
blocks.
This facility has been open from 14th April, 2008 onwards to yogic trainees who
wish to commence retreats.

Every Sunday and Wednesday, abhyasis of Sahaj Marg meditate together
as a group in their respective centres.
When we sit together for meditation, the result is amplified and
bigger than the sum of individual efforts.
When we meet for satsangh in large groups, we learn to tolerate each
other, to respect each other, and eventually to love each other
irrespective of any differences in caste, religion, social or economic
circumstances. This promotes universal brotherhood.
After the satsangh, there are also short programs conducted on specific
topics like sadhana (practice), character formation, discipline, love etc.
80
Sahaj Marg Spirituality Foundation extensively focuses on:
promoting spirituality and the principles of tolerance and love among people,
through its free instruction in the Sahaj Marg (Natural Path) system of
Meditation and character formation workshops.
Providing Free Medical Services in various specialties to those in need.
Providing places of retreat from the humdrum and tensions of modern life for
people to regain their inner tranquility, thereby enabling them to live life in a
more serene and balanced way.
Organizing spiritual bhandaras where individuals from all walks of life – having
diverse social, economic and religious backgrounds and nationalities come
together transcending boundaries in an atmosphere of love, trust and
brotherhood, thereby promoting the value of oneness among all human beings.
“ When we want one humankind, one humanity, one world, perhaps one universe someday, we have to find the
uniting factor, not the dividing factor! And that is what I think spirituality is all about.
- P. Rajagopalachari, Managing Trustee, SMSF 81
