Introduction

Women’s safety in public spaces has become an important across the globe that needs immediate attention. This project has been initiated to collect and night-time data of cities, for advocacy and improvement of infrastructure and safety of citizens. The data collected will be available to key stakeholders to design improvement initiatives.

TROUBLESHOOT

GPS and internet are off

WHEN GPS IS OFF

• Go to settings• Select GPS• Switch

on‘Access to my location’

• Switch on GPS Satellites by swiping right

WHEN INTERNET IS OFF

WHEN INTERNET IS OFF

• Go to settings• Select Data Usage• Switch on Mobile

GPS and Internet are on

• When you switch on the mobile phone for the first time and open the SafetiPin map application, you might get a blank white screen. It means that the device is still picking up the GPS location. Close the application completely and re-open after 3-4 minutes.

• If you still see blank white screen, re-open the app in an open space.

• If the device battery is below 15%, the GPS and Internet of the application will switch off automatically. Put the phone on charging and wait for the GPS and Internet to become active.

• The number of pictures can go up and down. This means that while you are capturing the pictures, the device is simultaneously sending the pictures to our server.

• Try to upload the pictures captured before it reaches 1500.

• Press the start button only when your GPS and Internet are active (colored in GREEN).
