Approximately 90% of students returned yesterday and hopefully as the week progresses this number will increase. Hygiene measures are still in place with hand sanitiser readily available, cleaners on site from 5:00am until 6:00pm and social distancing encouraged – although with students quite happy to see each other this is proving quite difficult! Absences From School In line with the Premier’s directives all students are now to attend school fulltime as learning from home has ceased. Thus you have 3 options, send your child to school every day, if they are sick keep them home and follow usual processes such as contacting the school so they may be marked as sick or provide a doctor’s certificate outlining that they are unfit to return at school due to a medical condition. If you choose to simply keep your child at home then usual processes will be put in place. Aboriginal Education Officer In Mr Shipp’s absence from school Mr Kye Jackson will be relieving in this role for the remainder of this term. He will be organising and running BroSpeak, commencing the planning for NAIDOC which will hopefully take place in some capacity in Term 3 and be the contact for all issues related to Aboriginal education in our school. School Behaviour And Expectations It was quite noticeable yesterday that it will take some time for our students to re acclimatise to school life after, for some, a 9 week break. Our PBL expectations have recommenced with students expected to be Responsible, Safe and Respectful in all settings. It would be very beneficial if this could also be reinforced at home. School Uniform Please continue to support the school and send your child to school in full school uniform. There are dress codes and standards in place for staff and simple uniform expectations for students. The majority of the uniform can be purchased, through the uniform shop, the clothing pool or sourced locally. Don’t forget too that winter beanies and sport socks are available through the front office at very reasonable prices. Assemblies, Excursions and Gatherings For the moment these events are not allowed in schools as they contradict the social distancing rules, and students are being encouraged to not come in close contact with each other. To support this students are also lining up in different areas so they aren’t all crammed under the COLA in one big group. When more information becomes available on when these events can recommence I will pass this on immediately. Hopefully the first big major event as we return to normal will be our Book Week parade early next term. Stay tuned for details on this. Have a great ‘first’ week back. Toby Morgan, Principal Canteen News The Canteen is open again Monday to Friday. School Winter Uniform Now that the weather is getting colder, please wear or have a jumper in your bag everyday. Please ensure that all jumpers are labelled with the student’s name. Jumpers $30 & Jackets $38 Beanies $10 School Photos are back!
