A program to assist women and children to access refuge accommodation and leave a situation of domestic violence by providing short- term fostered accommodation for their dog. This is small pilot program in the Perth metro area, starting on 1st December 2008 for 12 months to assist families who meet the following criteria: 1 The client has refuge accommodation already arranged. 2 The client is escaping domestic violence and can make a planned (not crisis) exit. 3 The project worker can make a full assessment with the client prior to any decision to accommodate the dog. 4 The client agrees to the projects legal requirements. We are interested in documenting all families who need to find accommodation for a dog so they can move into a refuge. We may NOT be able to assist everyone but the information is needed to give a clear understanding of the scale of need for the future. To discuss any referrals please call Kedy 9300 0340 Funded by Attorney-Generals Department Criminal property confiscation program.
