s a f e p o r t s Safe Ports

Our work is Logistics – but not everyday logistics. We support Emergency Responders and the Military inside war zones or inside active disaster sites, far from home. We have to succeed as Lives are literally depending on us getting the right material to the right place, no matter what.

s a f e p o r t s Defense Logistics

Safe Ports : Security Risks – those events which could cause a slow down or stop in the supply Chain for us are caused by weather, terror or new laws which countries are not prepared to adapt to quickly enough. Some risks are impossible to plan for. Others mean engaging with government officials and working together to overcome challenges. For example, when the roads between Pakistan and Afghanistan were closed to us by the Taliban, we had to find another way and created an “air bridge” When we can’t get landing rights for US aircraft into certain places in Africa, we look for other carriers that can…

s a f e p o r t s Humanitarian Logistics

Disaster Relief Logistics. Safe Ports’ Geospatial Experts offer the ability to determine locations for successful humanitarian operations and hub/spoke distribution locations to optimize response, distribution time, costs, and numbers of distribution centers required. Our supply chain is often impacted by “active shooters” or mudslides, or, no roads in or out… for this reason we will fly over the area to work out a different way to keep the supplies moving. Our geospatial team of analysts know how to target the situation to ensure our safety and the safety of those assisting us.

s a f e p o r t s Base Camps & Cold Food Storage

LOGISTICS FOR US INCLUDES PROVIDING LIFE SUPPORT: The supply chain is far more than warehousing/distribution/transportation – it is Life Support. Our Risk Assessments must include Sustainability. Our base camp team assemble structures suitable for refugees and aid workers, to include kitchens, laundry, lavatories, potable and waste water management systems, and much more. Our warehousing capabilities are designed with security precautions to protect against a myriad of threats, including contamination; we provide all types of storage, from cold food and pharmaceutical to storage of hazmat materials; we are experts at inventory management, maintaining machinery, heavy equipment, and vehicles.

Risk One in a War Zone, Is Shelter! We had no Buildings, Only Shipping Containers And Air Beam Tents to support The war Fighters…

Risk 2:

incoming

rockets…

• The attacks frayed nerves at the sprawling

airfield. The heavy thud of one of the rockets

when it hit the ground before exploding could

be heard for kilometers. As sirens wailed, our

people took refuge in concrete bunkers until

the all-clear was sounded.

• Yes, me too.

plenty of warlords w/guns

s a f e p o r t s Major risks to supply chains in war zones

The reality is that competing geopolitical interests Have kept this region on heightened alert for Generations. Most recently we dealt with Piracy Off the coasts of Yemen and Somalia, Today we are concerned with strikes from Iran Across the Straits of Hormuz which could impact Iraq’s Port of Umm Quasar, Kuwait and of course The major port in the region - Dubai

s a f e p o r t s Port & Facilities Security Assessments

Since 2003, Safe Ports has been performing security analysis at seaports in Latin America and the Middle East. Recently we evaluated and recommended various types of Container Scanning Equipment for a Latin American Terminal Operator. Safe Ports attended multiple workshops with suppliers, spent individual time with each supplier, worked through the subsequent proposals and assisted in the final technical discussions and technical evaluation of the bids. We have decades of experience performing Security Risk Assessments, Mitigation Planning, Procurement and Installation, and post ISPS evaluations, worldwide. Our concern always is to ensure the Port and its customers maintain Competitive Advantages – while meeting all security requirements

competitiveness – or opportunities to improve

Accuracy…Transparency…Consistency The Calculation of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in the logistics sector is driven by a new standard developed over the last few years by the EUROPEAN COMMITTEE FOR STANDARIZATION. “CEN” will drive carriers, forwarders, and logistics companies to calculate energy Consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in compliance with the new standard, EN 16258 Energy is used and greenhouse gas emissions are created not only by transport but also by buildings, Warehouses and handling. Safe Ports is working on methodologies to correctly evaluate and report results

s a f e p o r t s The Trends

As we saw when ISPS codes were first introduced, we see that more customers will demand precise calculations of carbon emissions when shipping goods. Today the EU and French governments are focused exclusively on transport – and in 2020 it will be required that reductions of 20% will need to be produced, to be in compliance.
