Swimming Gala
Key Stage Two and One went to a
Swimming Gala at the Lido.
St Bernadette won with the most
points. The swimming gala was so
much fun. We raced against four
people, there was first, second and
third and fourth. We did one race
but if we were in the relay we did
two.
We did it at WARE Lido. The swim-
ming gala pool was very warm. The

After we came back up to the sur-
face we had a look around the first
floor of the building. Through each window of a Castle model
there was example of what was
happening. In one window there
was a party in a big house. The
toilets were like prisons!
We then had our lunch in the can-
teen. After lunch, we explored the
second floor. We had a look at
some facts about the Stone Age
and about the life of Romans. We
got to do some activities too. We
had to build a house out of wood
which was really good fun.
We broke into our groups explor-
ing a little bit more. In my group
we watched a conversation on a
screen and voted about Boudicca.
Just before going home we got to
go to the shop and spend our
pocket money. We had great fun
on this trip!

Year 3 went on our school trip to
Colchester Castle on Monday 16th
May 2016. We arrived at the school with our bags and five
pounds so we could get something
at the shop. Then Miss Smith told
us our groups and then we went
down to our coach and went to
Colchester. We stopped to go to
the castle. When we got there we
took a class photo. We had 5
minutes to explore outside off the
castle that was 2100 years old.
Then a lady told us that we could
come in to Colchester castle. First
we listened to the three safeties rules; one was that we were not
allowed to run, two NO shouting,
three stay with your group. First
we went to see a well that was 50
feet deep; next we went down some
steps, each step we went we
counted 100, at the end we went
back in time 2100 years. Then we
found ourselves in the foundations
of the Temple of Claudius! The Ro-
mans made the prisoners work
really hard to build the Temple.
They even cut off someone's head
and stuck it on a stick to watch
over the prisoners!
Miss Watson is a
teacher here at Sacred
Heart and we did an interview on the 13th
of June.
The first question was
‘What primary school
did you go to?’. She
went somewhere in
Broxbourne.
The second question
was ‘Do you have any
brothers or sisters?’.
She has one older brother and a
younger sister.
The third question was ‘Do you
have any pets?’. No be-
cause she is allergic to fur-
ry animals.
The fourth question was
‘Do you live on your own?’.
She lives with her family.
The fifth question was ‘Did
you have a job before
teaching?’. She worked at
Tesco’s to make her confi-
dent at speaking.
The sixth question was
‘What is your favourite subject?’.
Her favourite subjects are Science
and English.
The seventh question was ‘Did you
go to any schools before Sacred
Heart and if you did what year?’. Yes she taught year 1, year 2 and
year 3.
The final question was ‘What uni-
versity did you go to?’. She went to
Middlesex.
We enjoyed finding out about Miss
Watson.

A Note from Miss Smith
I am really impressed by the children who have worked
hard in Newspaper Club this half term. The club only be-
gan six weeks ago but the children took on the challenge
and have written some fantastic articles.
All of the articles have been edited by the children who
wrote them.
If you are in KS2 and you would like to join Newspaper
Club next year, look out for a notice in the new year.
If you are a parent and you have any expertise you would
like to give us, please email and let me know.
Congratulations Newspaper Club!
