Registration forms are available on the School website and should be sent in as soon as possible to guarantee a class space. Check out the Student Life section of the School website for information about instrumental music and voice lessons, sports clinics and team practices, which are also being held after school. If requesting a scholarship you MUST submit registration form by Tuesday, September 13th (without payment). You will be contacted regarding the awarded scholarship amount and to confirm registration. Payment by check or cash must be received for the registration to be complete and space reserved in the class. Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure fairness, registrations will be dated and numbered when received in the After School Office. Scholarships are available for all classes. Please contact Brenda Asare for information at 773-262-4446 ext. 542. Consider yourself registered for a class unless you hear otherwise from the After School Office. No confirmation is sent home. Core After School Program – Stay until 6:00 p.m. After School Classes are offered in addition to the Core After School Program. Your child/children are welcome to stay at school after their class in the Core After School Program. Pickup must take place by 6:00 p.m. through the Portry. If your child‘s class does not start until after 4:00 they will stay in the Core Program until their class meets. For more information about the Core After School Program, contact Christy Crandall at [email protected]Dismissal/Pick Up Children enrolled in After School Classes will report to the Core After School Program at dismissal. Their After School Class teacher will pick them up there at the start time for their class. Children will be dismissed by After School staff at the Rosemont door at the class-end time indicated on the schedule. Students whose parents do not pick them up within 10 minutes of class end-time will join the Core Program and must then be picked up through the Portry. Snacks A healthy snack will be provided to every child participating in an After School Class. The cost of the snack is included in the Class fee.

For more information about the Core After School Program,
Students will learn the basics of what it means to be a Girl Scout
through bi-weekly meetings. We will explore the Girl Scout law
through activities, games, and crafts. Girl Scouts helps girls to
become caring members of their community while creating lasting friendships with their troop members. Membership dues will be discussed at initial meeting.
Membership is limited to 15 students. A parent co-leader is needed in
order to increase enrollment. Ms. Murphy is currently accepting
returning students and will have a waitlist of students that are interested
in joining on first come basis.
Tuesday Classes
Girls on the Go

Age: K, 1st, 2

Dates: Tuesdays, September 20 – October 18 (4 weeks)
(No class on 10/11)
Time: 3:45 – 4:45 p.m.
Fee: $95 + $15 materials fee = $110
Minimum Enrollment: 5; Maximum Enrollment: 20
This class is just for girls who will spend their afternoons creating
crafts, jewelry making, dancing, singing, and participating in fun
games that only girls will love! Activities are theme-based which will
differ weekly. Get ready to have some FUN!
Sacred Heart LEGO Team K-1 Teacher: Brittany Gibson, Loyola University student majoring in
Education, who works at Sacred Heart as well as the LEGO store on
Michigan Avenue.
Age: Kindergarteners & 1st graders
Dates: Tuesdays, September 20 – October 18 ( 4 weeks)
(No class held on 10/11)
Time: 4:15 – 5:05 p.m.
Fee: $95 + $45 materials fee = $140
Minimum Enrollment: 5; Maximum Enrollment: 20
Students will build a different LEGO set every week to take home.
They will also have the opportunity to explore how to "free build" by
learning tips and tricks, as well as working together with peers. No
building experience is required.
Spanish for Children Teachers: Staff from Estrellitas (www.estrellitas.biz)
Age: K – 5th
graders
Dates: Tuesdays & Thursdays, September 20 - October 20
(5 weeks)
Please note that this class meets twice a week, which is important for
language immersion.

Time: 3:45 – 5:00 p.m.

Minimum enrollment: 6; Maximum enrollment: 15
Expose your children to Spanish—the second language spoken in the
U.S. and spoken by more than half a billion people throughout the
world. Estrellitas offers a cultural immersion program that
incorporates fun activities targeted to introduce Spanish language and
culture to children. The teachers are native speakers whose approach
emphasizes having fun while exposing the children to Hispanic
traditions through art, activities, games, music, singing, dancing, and

Private Voice Lessons
Julie O'Connell has been offering voice lessons at Sacred Heart
Schools for the past four years. After receiving her Bachelor of
Music in Jazz Studies with a Vocal Performance Concentration in
May 2005 from the University of North Texas, Julie stayed in the area
to be a freelance jazz musician, and to teach private and group voice
lessons. While on a vocal jazz scholarship at UNT, she sang with the
world-renowned One O'Clock Jazz Band and the UNT Jazz Singers.
In the private lessons, students do warm ups, sight singing, breathing
technique and sing solo pieces from great books for kids of all ages.
Her students in the past have performed at a fall recital and at Gallery
Night wowing the audience with their vocal talents!

even create their own edible messages! Young investigators will step
into the shoes of a detective and uncover the science involved in
evidence gathering and analysis. They will explore forensic science in
