GARDEN
REFUSE & STREET
SWEEPING
SERVICES
Leaf Season (October through December) – Call 808-4827 for the latest collection schedule update
During leaf season, garden refuse collection may run late due to the increase in tonnage that
occurs each leaf season. Crews will be working overtime to catch up, but due to the volume ofleaves that drop during this time of the year, the periodic collection of garden refuse is impacted.
Periodic garden refuse andmonthly street sweeping servicesare provided to City of Sacramento
residents (see map). Streetsweeping occurs once a monthfor residents that have curb andgutters. Street sweeping occurson the day following yourgarden refuse collection (exceptDowntown or Oak Park).
The Following Are Accepted:
• Garden trimmings including: shrubs, weeds.leaves, grass clippings, and sod (with the dirtremoved).
• Christmas trees (Stands must be removed. Treeswill be picked up whole.)
• Tree prunings: Material must be cut to not exceed36 inches and no single piece can weigh morethan 40 pounds or be greater than 4 inchesin diameter.
The Following Items Will Not Be Picked Up:
• Piles greater than two cubic yards (3’x3’x6’)• Piles contaminated with household trash
• Dirt, concrete, lumber, and fencing• Animal Droppings• Garden refuse that did not originate from the
resident’s property. (This is illegal dumping .)
Helpful Suggestions for Good Service
• On street sweeping days, keep the streets clear of
cars, trash and recycling containers, gardenrefuse materials, and basketball hoops.
• Keep gutters and drains free of garden refuse. This is especially important during wet weather, when leaves can clog drains and cause streetflooding.
• Please do not place more than two cubic yards ofmaterial on the street for collection each week.
(3’x3’x6’)• Please make sure your trees are pruned.Overhanging trees can be an obstruction andprevent the crews from providing service.
Downtown and Oak Park Restricted Parking Zones
Some areas in Downtown and Oak Park haverestricted parking from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM.Street sweeping occurs once a month, on the sameday as your garbage, bi-weekly recycling, andgarden refuse services. Please place you garbageand recycling containers on the curb or in the areabetween the curb and sidewalk. Containers placedin the street (gutter) prevent the street sweeperfrom providing service.
