From the commercial vehicles (CV) industry point of view, a healthy growth in the agriculture, manufacturing, mining and the construction segments of the GDP augur well since it helps in generating the incremental freight which will in turn generate incremental demand for the trucks to be used to transport the same. Looking at the GDP break-up, mining and electricity segments have recorded a lower growth as compared to the same period last year. This is likely to be due to normal rains this year as compared to the drought-like situation that prevailed in the Q2 of last year. While normal rains are good for the farm sector, it affects the mining activity which leads to lower output of the coal and coking coal segments.
