This feast honors all the saints, known and unknown. This feast was first celebrated on May 13, 610, when Pope Boniface IV proclaimed the day Feast of All Holy Martyrs in Rome. The intent was to honor all martyrs who were not included in local records. In 835, Pope Gregory IV changed the date and name to November 1 and Feast of All Saints. There are many saints who are not popularly known or who are not celebrated during the course of the liturgical year. This feast day provides an opportunity to remember and celebrate their lives.

We must, if we don’t want to get on God’s bad side (and God knows we don’t) help the weak. In Christ, Fr. St. Martin

Being mindful of the poor, is being mindful of Jesus… the giver of all life. At some point, we - all of us, will have to “prepare a full account of [our] stewardship.”... and God in no uncertain terms, remains mindful of the poor, whom he intends to “lift up” - and God promises those who “trample upon the needy and destroy the

poor” will not be forgotten… for we cannot serve both God and the things that are not of God… At the Judgment of Nations, Jesus will come in his glory, with all the angels with him, and the first order of business will be to deliver on a promise, when he said; ... ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’ God is not just concerned with shekel-mongering, or those who cheat the poor out of their fair share of grain, but also all of the ways the poor (hungry, thirsty, estranged, ill and imprisoned unborn, elderly, etc…), have been neglected, which very much includes those who are being robbed of life itself. As legislators grapple with ever-new and complicated bills intending to end the life of persons at ever-increasing stages, we must pray for those who are actively working on the front-lines of the Pro-Life movement, that God may bring success to the work of our hands - and also pray for the conversion of hearts for those unable to see through the darkness of the culture of death. We can and should keep in active prayer, all those traumatized by the culture of death, and abortion in particular - that all may find the door to God's Mercy, through Jesus, the giver of all life.

You may pick up the forms in the back of the church, and return them in person to the Rectory. We need to see your photo government ID in person, so please take a few minutes to stop by the Rectory to complete this form. Fall 2019 Project Rachel Post-Abortion Healing Retreats - September 28, October 19 & November 16 “Project Rachel led me to a place of forgiveness and mercy. During the retreat, I realized the lasting impact of forgiveness. I knew God had forgiven me, and now I needed to forgive myself.”– A Project Rachel retreat participant. The Project Rachel ministry of the Archdiocese of Boston extends a special invitation to women suffering from the pain of a past abortion to attend a “Come to the Waters of Healing” one-day retreat. Clergy Health & Retirement Trust. Our 2nd collection next weekend is for Hurricane Dorian relief. Cardinal Seán has asked for a 2nd collection to be taken up on or around September 28-29 in all parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston, in support of the relief efforts for the (arch)dioceses of the Bahamas and the United States that have been ravaged by the destruction of Hurricane Dorian. We have all seen the devastation caused by this severe storm. The emergency needs of the local Church in these areas will be great. As information about the destruction and needs becomes known the Boston Archdiocese will work in collaboration with Catholic Relief Services for the Bahamas and Catholic Charities USA for any US diocese that has emergency needs. We do not have envelopes for this collection, so please write your name and envelope number on a plain white envelope and drop it in the 2nd collection on this weekend. We can then make sure you receive credit for the donation on your year-end tax donation letter. Thank you for your support. To date we have received $19,231.00 towards our goal of $22,305.00 for the Catholic Appeal. We are at approximately 86% of our assessment – we are almost there. If we don’t raise the entire $22,305.00, we will be billed by the Archdiocese for the amount that we are short. Please remember to send in your donation today. Pick up an orange envelope, or contact me for more information. What a beautiful weekend we had for the bazaar! Thank you to everyone who helped out and for all who came and enjoyed the festivities. A very cursory look at the numbers look great! It looks as though we have cleared approximately $16,000.00 – up by more than $1,000.00 from last year. I expect to have more bills to pay in the upcoming weeks, but have estimated these costs based on previous years. I will keep you posted when we finally arrive at an official total.
