An Epistle from Paul: Watch That Tongue! – The chameleon, a small lizard, is well-known for their ability to what? Change colors… The skin of this reptile can pass through several colors as its mood changes, or as they adapt to surrounding conditions. But equally remarkable of this little animal is the size and agility of this creature’s tongue. The chameleon’s body measures approximately six inches in length. But their tongue is frequently even longer! The lizard rolls up this oversize tongue inside their mouth. It then shoots its tongue out with great speed and suddenness to snare their food (insects mostly). A chameleon can catch an insect ten inches away with one quick thrust of their talented tongue! Let me use the above to illustrate yet another Biblical principle. In James 3:8-10 we read, “But no one can tame the tongue, it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father; and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way.” This brings us to the ever present need to constantly watch that tongue! We must learn to use this instrument to the glory of God and not to the destruction of man. How we all need to discipline our tongue unto Godliness. In short, we must learn to better use the tongue for its God given purpose…! Let’s watch that tongue and how we use it this week. May we learn to use it to the honor and glory of our Lord. May it truly be an instrument of His righteousness. Watch that tongue! In His Marvelous Love, Paul The Church of Christ 725 US 35 West P.O. An Epistle from Paul:

Watch That Tongue!
