As you may recall roughly one year ago, CARPOOL found itself in a large amount of financial trouble which made it necessary to cancel our safe ride operations for the first fewweekends of the Spring 2010 semester. It goes without saying that this was a difficult time in-year history. These events occurred due to a variety of reasons, all of which CARPOOL took full responsibility. The reasons included a lack of proper record keepingand a lost tenacity in consistent fundraising. financialformulated a plan of action, the University, thecommunity of Bryan/College Station, and the Aggie Family came to our rescue. With an
outpouring of motivational support and monetary donations, as well as a newfound focus onfundraising, CARPOOL managed to raise over $115,000 in the remaining weeks of the Spring2010 semester. Humbled, CARPOOL once again regained its status as a thriving organization atTexas A&M. While CARPOOL currently retains its financial stability and has made major organizational strides since Spring 2010, we would like to take this opportunity to share with youour status, in detail, one year after the fact.
CARPOOL has taken the 2010-2011 school year to focus on and correct the technicalproblems which existed in the past by developing methods of proper and thoroughdocumentation, forming an air of professionalism throughout its executive staff, and fosteringproper leadership transitions. The Department of Student Activities at Texas A&M has
developed a brand new website for CARPOOL that streamlines many of our operationalprocesses while producing pertinent and consistent data. By envisioning andachieving these strategic and attainable goals, CARPOOL has become more goal-driven andprofessional as a non-profit organization. A
Whereas this year of CARPOOL has been dedicated to ensuring the stability and
professionalism of the organization, the future of CARPOOL will be more focused on itsrelationships with the student body, the community, sponsors, donors, and its own membership. The first step in realizing this vision is to develop
inspire its members to find success in not only CARPOOL, but also in life. The next step will beto actively expand our visibility on campus by becoming more involved with other studentorganizations. To further strengthen these relationships, an old CARPOOL campus-wide eventwill be resurrected. Known as the CARPOOL Olympics, this event will provide a mixing of community sponsors and leaders with student organizations from across campus while alsoincreasing the awareness . To increase our presence in the community,CARPOOL will work towards becoming a greater steward to its many sponsors and donors byproviding them with more recognition and benefits as a result of supporting a non-profit
organization. Ultimately we hope these efforts will not only increase our visibility in thecommunity, but will also solidify our presence in the eyes of other businesses and organizationsthat would not have normally learned of CARPOOLs mission. Over the course of the currentschool year, the framework of CARPOOL has been restructured into a solid foundation that willsupport the organization for years to come. For the rest of 2011 and continuing through theforeseeable future, CARPOOL will branch out of its normal boundaries to regain its status as apremiere student-run organization at Texas A&M.
We hope this brief story helps to instill your trust and faith back into an organization thatonly one year ago suffered a harsh financial complication. CARPOOL is not only running, butwe are thriving on the thought of what the future holds for our organization. This again would
not be possible without the gracious generosity of others and the selfless dedication of our members. We would like to not only thank our sponsors, donors, and patrons; but also theUniversity, Texas A&M Clubs across the nation, Texas A&M alumni, and CARPOOL alumni.Your humbling support is what allows this organization to fulfill its mission day in and day out.The future of CARPOOL is bright and prosperous, but we are always in search of support, be itmonetary donations, novel ideas, or energetic committed members. Next year CARPOOL willbe celebrating its 12th anniversary and will surpass 200,000 given rides! We can and willachieve all of our goals of becoming a sustainable, premiere organization at Texas A&M, butonly with your continued support.
