Pre-Evaluating Adult Daycare providers is just as important as checking out every other care provider you might be considering for your aging parents. And as with other care options, not all adult care centers are the same. You owe it to your parent’s safety and comfort to do some checking… Here are some important factors to consider: Client Assessment: Will the center evaluate my parent’s medical needs, physical and cognitive functioning and social skills? Who will evaluate my parent? What are the evaluator’s qualifications (degreed gerontologist, etc.)? How will my parent be evaluated? Will there be continued periodic evaluations (if so, how often)? Clients: Are services provided to people with different types of impairments? Is the center equipped to deal with behaviors associated with dementia? Activities: What activities are offered? Can my parents suggest activities? Are people with dementia included in general activities? Nutrition: What meals will be provided? How are special diets handled?
