FROM THE RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY

“For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45) If you held a mirror up to your life, would it reflect God’s love and mercy? If you are struggling with this, try changing your attitude from “I want

more” to “thank you God for everything you have given me, I have enough to share”. This change in perspective will bring you joy through service to others. Pray daily to become less self-centered and to become more God-centered.

Adopt A Sunday Mass

Looking for someone to assist with the return of coffee fellowship at each Sunday Mass.

Please let Fr. Adam know which Mass you can assist with.

Coffee fellowship will resume after all Sunday Masses starting on Sunday November 7th!!

Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time: In the Gospel today Jesus tells his dis-ciples: “Anyone among you who as-pires to greatness must serve the rest; whoever wants to rank first among you must serve the needs of all.” When you give the furniture, house-

hold items and clothing you no longer use to the Soci-ety of St. Vincent de Paul, you give hope to your neighbors who have nothing.

"Behold I stand at the door and knock" It's time. Time to learn more about your faith.

It's time to experience what our religion can do for you. Jesus is waiting for you personally. Cursillo weekends are a wonderful fun way to give you a start on this journey.

Men's Cursillo weekend November 11-14 Go to www.fourthday.org and download your application today, or call Pam Hamilton at 774-239-8909 for more information.

You will be so glad you did!

LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD

Say NO to Physician Assisted Suicide

The Massachusetts State Legislature is considering passing into law two deeply troubling bills this session which would legalize Physician Assisted Suicide. The bills, House 2381 and Senate 1384, are identical in text and titled “An Act relative to end of life options”. What is Physician Assisted Suicide? Physician Assisted Suicide is deliberately and intention-ally providing an individual with a lethal drug to commit suicide. “As Catholics we should be in the forefront of working for a society where the right to life is inviolable. A vote for physician assisted suicide is a failure to foster and promote the compassionate care we should promise for the terminally ill. Our moral responsibility is to sur-round our terminally ill loved ones with genuine concern and love so that they will not be driven to the desperate point of considering suicide.” - Bishop Robert McManus- How can your voice be heard? Call or email your legislators, let them know you are a Massachusetts voter, and say NO Physician Assisted Suicide! Log on to www.macatholic.org and follow the links to find contact information for your individual State Senator and Representative via address and zip code link. If you do not have internet access, please call the Massachusetts Catholic Conference at 617-746-5630 for legislative contact information.

Attention Please !!!

The last day to register for the Light of the World retreat is: Friday October 22nd. Please be sure to have your registration form, whether paper or electronic received by this date. If you do not have a form or cannot register electronically, please call the office.

29th Sunday in Ordinary Time October 16-17, 2021

SPRED Open House SPRED (SPecial Religious EDucation) is holding an Open House at the Emmaus Ministry Center, 17 East Main Street, Webster, MA. (Across from Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and the site of the Adoration Chap-el.) Entrance is on lower left side of building. This is being held on Sunday, November 7th from 9 to 10:30 AM. We have a group for children and a new one is starting for adults. And these groups are open to all parishes. Please contact Linda at [email protected] for any questions.

Treasures of the Church is a ministry of evangelization of the Catholic Church. Run by Fr. Carlos Martins of the Companions of the Cross, its purpose is to give people an experience of the living God through an encounter with the relics of his saints in the form of an exposition. Each exposition begins with a multi-media presentation on the Church's use of relics that is scriptural, catechetical, and devotional, leading to a renewal of the Catholic faith for many people. After the teaching those in attendance have an opportunity to venerate the relics of some of their favorite saints. An exposition involves some 150 relics, including those of St. Maria Goretti, St. Therese of Lisieux (the "Little Flower"), St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Faustina Kowalska. The supreme highlight is one of the largest relics of the Church's claim to the True Cross in the world and a piece of the Veil that, according to sanctioned tradition, is believed to have belonged to Our Lady. The veneration of relics is a communion with the heroes of our Christian faith, asking for their powerful interces-sion. Many people have reported outstanding blessings and conversions through this ministry, and many have reported healings. Attendees are encouraged to bring their articles of devotion (such as rosaries, holy cards, etc.) and pictures of ill friends/family members which may be touched to the reliquaries as a means of intercessory prayer. The ministry travels throughout the world by invitation. To date, it has been hosted in almost 200 Catholic dioceses in various countries.

Save The Date: November 28, 2021 - 2pm

Merry Christmas!!! I know hearing that sounds a bit strange seeing we aren’t even close to Thanksgiving. However, for Christmas greetings to arrive on time I must send the e-letters out by the week of Nov. 15th.

So if you would like to send Anny, Oliver, Angel or Jeronima a note, please write it on a piece paper, put it in an envelope. Mark Unbound & who it’s for, drop it in the collection basket and I will be sure to put it in their Christmas greeting.

Please join us the weekend of Oct 23rd to hear Rev. William R. Sokolowski speak at all the Masses about a ministry providing direct relief to the poor throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Fr. Sokolowski will share personal witness about Food For The Poor’s mission to care for the destitute as a means of living out the Gospel mandate to love one another. Fr. Sokolowski was ordained in 1965 for the Archdiocese of Hartford. Fr. Bill taught Philosophy for over 25 years. Before joining Food For The Poor, he served as a pastor in the Archdiocese of Hartford. Let’s give him a very warm welcome.

A PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH, DEFENDER OF LIFE

Dearest St. Joseph, at the word of an angel, you lovingly took Mary into your home. As God’s humble servant, you guided the Holy Family on the road to Bethlehem, welcomed Jesus as your own son in the shelter of a manger, and fled far from your homeland for the safety of both Mother and Child. We praise God that as their faithful protector, You never hesitated to sacrifice for those entrusted to you. May your example inspire us also to welcome, cherish, and safeguard God’s most precious gift of life. Help us to faithfully commit ourselves to the service and defense of human life--especially where it is vulnerable or threatened. Obtain for us the grace to do the will of God in all things. Amen

29th Sunday in Ordinary Time October 16-17, 2021

October 15, 2021 My dear friends in Christ, In his message for World Mission Day 2021, Pope Francis recognized that the current pandemic has only strengthened our need to be present to the world when he wrote: The pandemic has brought to the fore and amplified the pain, the solitude, the poverty, and the injustices experienced by so many people. In these days of pandemic…. there is urgent need for the mission of compassion, which can make that necessary (social) distancing an opportunity for encounter, care and promotion. Our Holy Father reminds us clearly that each baptized Christian must make Christ present in the world in which they live. Pope Francis continued, The theme of this year’s World Mission (Sun)day, “We cannot but speak about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20), is a summons to each of us to “own” and to bring to others what we bear in our hearts. Your donations on the weekend of October 24th are critical. The Pontifical Mission Societies serve the Church’s universality as a global network of support for the Pope in his missionary commitment by prayer, the soul of mission, and charitable offerings from Christians throughout the world. These donations assist the Pope in the evangelization efforts of particular Churches (the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith), in the formation of local clergy (the Pontifical Society of Saint Peter the Apostle), and in raising missionary awareness in children (Pontifical Society of Missionary Childhood). In a world where so much divides us, World Mission Sunday rejoices in our unity as missionaries by our Baptism. It also provides an opportunity to support the life-giving presence of the Church among the poor and marginalized in more than 1,111 mission dioceses. Thank you for prayerfully reflecting on your own baptismal call, and support World Mission Sunday in your parish. With every prayerful best wish, I remain Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Robert J. McManus Bishop of Worcester
