The first game included the 1985-2009 graduates battling against each other followed by the 2010-2014 graduates going head to head. The event was organized by the Class of 2016, under the direction of Samantha ( Garthe ‘05) Seaberg, advisor, and sponsored by several area businesses. Callista (Runge ’43) Potter, recently donated her
father, Oscar Runge’s, trombone to St. Mary School.
He played this trombone (pictured to the right) in the
Provemont Boys Band group. Oscar played the organ
in St. Mary Church for 31 years from 1914 to 1945.
After graduation Callista attended the St. Mary’s Mer-
cy Central School of Nursing, in Grand Rapids. On a
blind date she met her future husband John Potter and they were married in 1949. She
continued nursing while John attended college. They settled in Grand Rapids and
raised their two children. John passed away in January.
Thank you Callista for remembering St. Mary School and sharing a piece of history with our community!

CHRISTY MILLER BRINGS PERFORMING ARTS TO TEXAS
The Three Oldest Living Alumni – From the Class of 1937, pictured
from left to right are Clarabelle (Plamondon) Routzahn, the sec-
ond oldest, standing is Jean (Peplinski) Lawson the youngest of
the group and Inez (Richard) Kirt who is our Oldest Living Alumni.
Clarabelle, vice president of her class, returned to the area with her
husband Milton and son David to care for her parents in the late
1970’s. Clarabelle worked for a time at Tru-Fit Trousers in Traverse
City and is an excellent seamstress. She shared her talent and
quilted for many years with the St. Mary Parish Quilters. Clarabelle
now resides at Tendercare in Suttons Bay.
Jean, the Salutatorian, continues to be very active within the community. She lives independently and drives herself
to her many volunteering tasks she takes on. Jean attends Mass almost daily, volunteers as a lector, extraordinary
minister, leads the rosary and also assists area priests with Communion distribution at Tendercare. Jean remembers
the long walk she had to school, and when it was stormy in the winter, she would stay in Lake Leelanau at Mrs. Cath-
erine Plamondon’s home.
Inez, Valedictorian for the class of 1937, worked as the first lady Supervisor of Centerville Township, was dedicated
to her Jury Board duties, and substituted at the Post Office. She was an excellent weaver and quilt maker, and quilted
with the St. Mary Quilters occasionally. She and her husband, members of Holy Rosary Parish, raised their six chil-
dren and enjoyed their farm in Centerville Township.
THREE WONDERFUL LADIES FROM THE CLASS OF ‘37
Christy Miller (‘10) After graduating from Hope College she embarked on a month long
camping trip. She shared “I learned a lot about myself, my faith and the Lord’s creation.”
Since then she accepted a job as Donor Relations Coordinator at the Tobin Center for the
Performing Arts in San Antonio, TX. Christy started work last July and The Tobin Center
opened its doors in September. “We’ve been open for about 10 months now and each day
brings something new. In our first few months we’ve shown everything from the Nutcracker
to Jason Mraz, Paul McCartney and the Blind Boys of Alabama.” The Center is a non-profit
501(c)3 and Christy works in the Development Department taking care of their Capital
Campaign donors as well as corporate and season sponsors.
“Through my involvement at my church, Redeemer, I have met most of my friends, and my
roommate. At this point, I am excited for what the Lord may have in store for me next.”
We recently found out part of the Lord’s plan for Christy, she is newly engaged. Congratulations!
