An Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Next Sunday is Palm Sunday and begins Holy week. I look forward to Holy Week every year, however, last year was difficult because it had to be videoed, there was nobody allowed in Church. This year you will be able to attend, although with some restrictions. Palm Sunday this year will take place as it always has. Because we couldn’t have the day of Penance and Mercy this year, we will be offering confessions after each one of the Palm Sunday Masses.
The Chrism Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Cathedral on Tuesday of Holy Week. The attendance is limited. The Holy Oils will be blessed at that liturgy, then will be available for pick up from the local deans. I would expect that the Mass will be livestreamed so that we can attend long distance.
There will be no Tenebrae service on Wednesday this year because of the need for a choir that we aren’t allowed to currently have. It is a beautiful service that I look forward to participating in next year. As we did last year, we will have a version of the service on our Facebook page and our website.
Holy Thursday will take place on Thursday at St. Patrick’s. We will not be doing the foot washing ceremony, also known as the mandatum, this year. It has always been an optional part of the Holy Thursday liturgy that we have always opted to do. I also look forward to the mandatum because the ceremony makes the words of the gospel come to life. I look forward to participating in it next year,
Good Friday is always a powerful service, as it will be this year as well. The only difference this year will be the way we approach the adoration of the cross by the faithful. Often times people kiss the cross or touch it, this year, however, we will not be touching the cross at all. As the people approach the cross they can genuflect, bow, or show some other type of adoration that does not include touching the cross.
The Easter Vigil will still be a very beautiful celebration. There will be some changes to the liturgy of the baptism but that should be minimal. We will be livestreaming all our Holy Week celebrations, so please join us in person or online.
MONTHLY FOOD COLLECTION St. Francis & St. Clare Parish will again be following a food collection schedule developed by several area churches. Each church will collect specific items for the House of Concern and CAP each month. Although we are given specific items to collect, we will graciously accept any food or personal hygiene items. For the month of March, we will be collecting the following items for the House of Concern and CAP: canned meat or fish, soap. Thank you so much for your continued support. Social Ministry Committee

Living Stations of the Cross
We are so excited to be able to offer the Living Stations of the Cross, COVID style. The Confirmation classes have put together a slide show which will be available on the St. Francis & St. Clare web page beginning this week. Please make sure to make this a
part of your Lenten experience. Take a moment to pray and reflect on Christ’s passion with the youth of our parish. www.sfscrcc.org
Please Note: We will no longer be offering a Saturday morning Mass at St. Patrick’s after Easter. Attendance has been low and it was decided not to have that Mass any more. The church is still open for individual prayer.
Reminder: Catholic Daughters Court Theresa #806 annual dues are being collected. Please send $35 to our Financial Secretary, Ellen Hughes at 2461 Brewer Road, Waterloo, NY 13165. Dues are being collected until March 31, 2021.
Court Theresa #806 invites any Catholic woman, who love and support the Church and wish to participate in social, spiritual, and charitable activities to join our court.
We meet the 2nd Wednesday of the month. We welcome any new members. For information, call Sara Ryan at 315-539-3394.
St. Francis St. Clare Parish will offer Penance after each Mass on Palm Sunday (March 27, 28.)

Christ said “I am the Truth”, He did not say “I am the custom”. ~St Turibius of Mogrovejo
PLEASE NOTE: STATIONS OF THE CROSS ARE ON FRIDAYS, 7:00PM
AT ST. PATRICK’S CHURCH DURING LENT.
STEWARDSHIP CORNER March 21, 2018 5th Sunday of Lent “I will be their God and they shall be my people.” - JEREMIAH 31:33 What does it mean to be God’s people? It means we recognize that everything we have and everything we are belongs to God. We aren’t “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts God has given us. It means we are willing to use our gifts and our lives to care for our family, our neighbors and for people we don’t know, just as God cares for each of us.
The Social Ministry Committee wishes to thank everyone for their generosity to the needy in our community with blankets, throws and afghans. They are given to the Cayuga Seneca Action Agency and the House of Concern to distribute at no cost. Our parish will warm many people this cold winter. Thank you.
FAMILY SPIRITUALITY WEEKLY TIP FOR: March 21, 2021 5th Sunday of Lent Gospel: John 12: 20-33 Adults: In what ways have I sacrificed my own desires to be of help to others? Children: When have I given up something to help my family, a classmate, or a friend? LET’S LIVE THE GOSPEL!!!!!!!

COMMUNITY IN MADAGASCAR Poor nutrition can lead to devastating longterm consequences for individuals, communities and entire countries. That’s why communities must work together to ensure that all children have access to better food and nutrition. New planting and cooking techniques are helping many communities in Madagascar improve the health and wellbeing of their children. How does your community work together for the good of others? you with the Holy Spirit... ’” (Luke 3:16)
The Catholic Catechism states that “Jesus’ immersion in the water is a sign for all human beings of the need to
die to themselves to do God’s will.” In other words, as baptized Catholics there is only one gift that we need togive to Jesus – the gift of ourselves. Surrender yourself to God, place your trust in Him and allow the Holy Spirit to work through you for the greater glory of God.
