at SLS

Choosing the Best Fit for your Family

Every family has unique considerations and needs during the

COVID-19 situation. Recognizing that a "one-size fits all"

approach to school may not work during a pandemic, SLS is

pleased to offer three learning programs this year. Families

may select the learning program that is the best fit for their

situation, and can choose to adjust their program selection

with the approval of parents, teachers, and school leadership.

Tuition is the same for all three learning program options.

Three days virtual learning at home

In-person days must be approved and be

consistent each week*

Attendance, work submission, and

grading remains the same as the full-time

program

Home-based learning days will

coordinate with in-person class schedules

Adult support may be required*Middle school students must choose back-to-back

in-person days to accommodate block scheduling.

#3 - Full-Time Virtual

Special ActivitiesHaving Fun - Safely

Springfield Lutheran School loves to have fun together as a school family. We want everyone to

remain healthy so they can stay in school and still have fun. While SLS loves music, competing

athletically, or hosting school-wide fun activities for the whole family, we are committed to

putting the health and safety of your family first. With safety in mind, we are willing to make

whatever small changes are necessary to protect others. We are also willing to be creative with

ways to connect with one another and have fun, even during a pandemic.

We will reevaluate all special activities quarterly to determine if itis safe to resume, or if we need to make changes.

Band and Choir Athletics Social EventsOur beginner, advanced, and jazz

band programs will be postponed for

the first quarter. We suggest that

band students consider private

lessons until we are able to resume

band.

We will also be postponing choir for

the first quarter.

Both of these musical opportunities

are very important to us, and we are

anxious to resume them as soon as

we safely can!

Fall competitive sports are being

postponed. However, we still

want students to have those

important physical outlets. SLS

will be offering volleyball and

running fun clubs. These will be

hosted after school and will just

be co-ed, fun competitions

against SLS students only. This

keeps our students from traveling

to "hot spots" to compete, and

gives the kids a chance to laugh

and have fun!

SLS loves a good party, and

connecting with one another!

However, we love our families

enough to postpone any events

that could put anyone's health in

danger. We are not hosting our

typical fall social events, but will

be actively working on ways to

creatively connect families to one

another. We are also planning

ways we can make sure that the

kids have fun as well. It's been a

tough year, and we all need good

friends and some joy!

What Happens if

there is an Exposure?Springfield Lutheran School is taking proactive measures to ensure the health and safety of

our students, family, and school community. In the event of any confirmed COVID-19

exposures at SLS, our school leadership will defer to the guidance of the Greene County

Health Department. We will support any guidance or required directive that is advised for the

protection of both our school constituents and the community as a whole.

Staff will be trained on how to appropriately isolate symptomatic students or staff members

at school, handling positive cases, and conducting contact-tracing in conjunction with the

Greene County Health Department. Similarly, the health department will notify SLS of any

potential exposures to COVID-19 in the school building, and SLS will implement follow-up

work. Anyone determined to be at potential risk for exposure will be contacted directly and

will receive appropriate guidance. SLS will communicate with necessary parents and/or staff

within the building regarding the potential exposure.

SLS will not share private information regarding specific individuals. We have a legalobligation to protect the identity and privacy of any affected individuals.

If a Student or Employee Tests Positive for COVID-19Springfield Lutheran School will notify families of students who have had close contact with a

COVID-positive employee, student, or visitor.

The Greene County Health Department will conduct contact tracing and notification will be

made to individuals who may have had extended close contact with a COVID-positive

individual.

A COVID-positive individual may return to the school when they have met the guidelines

established by Greene County Health and the Centers for Disease Control.

Potential School Closures

Making Learning a Priority - At Home or At School

Springfield Lutheran School may close school in the building as a means to prevent

further spread of COVID-19 in the building, or when advised to do so by local or state

health officials. If the school receives confirmation of a COVID-19 case in the school

building, SLS will work with the Greene County Health Department to assess the

possibility of exposure to employees and students, the number of cases in the

building, or other factors. Closure will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

If temporary school closures are necessary, all students and staff will transition to

full-time home-based learning. Virtual instruction will take place on school issued

devices using Seesaw, Google Classroom, and live video streaming. Teachers will be

utilizing Seesaw as a means of instruction and communication for in-person, hybrid,

and full-time virtual learning to ensure that parents and students are comfortable

with this platform. Utilizing Seesaw all year will help make any required transitions

to home-based learning a smooth experience.

It is important to notify the school office of any changes in email address or phone

number so we are able to quickly notify parents of any potential issues. Please

review the contact information for your family that is listed in FastDirect.

Don't Forget! In the event of an unexpected school closure,

students should have basic school supplies

available at home. Students also need to

remember to take home the following items

daily:

ChromebookCharging Cord for ChromebookNecessary textbooks or supplies

Thank You for Being a

Valued Part of the

SLS Family.

It is our honor to serve your family, especially in times of such uncertainty and

challenge. God has called the faculty and staff of Springfield Lutheran School to

not just challenge our students' minds, but to also nourish their spirit. Partnering

with each one of you to build a strong faith foundation in your child's life is a gift.

We know that attending school during a pandemic is going to require us to make

changes to the way we typically operate a school, but we are committed to doing

whatever it takes to keep our students healthy and happy at school. We value their

physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health and are willing to make small

changes to help our students regain some normalcy. We are thrilled to be able to

walk together as a school family in the hope and peace that only Jesus Christ can

give. We pray for each one of you, and thank you for your support.

Add a little bit of body textThe mission of Springfield Lutheran School is to provide a Christian environment for the growth and

development of children's souls, minds, and bodies (Matthew 22:37), equipping each child to strive towardswhat God intended him or her to be (Mark 10:14).
