Ryecroſt Academy Working in partnership with The GORSE Academies Trust FRIDAY 27th MAY 2016 MESSAGE FROM MR TIDSWELL… Our recent work on improving attendance at Ryecroft is really beginning to pay off. Our attendance target for this year is an ambitious 96%. Unfortunately, we were quite far away from achieving this target before the Easter holidays and attendance was falling below 95%. I am pleased to report that we are now very much back on track. In assembly this morning 158 children stood up to receive a certificate and some chocolate for achieving 100% attendance this half term! This is great news, but, more importantly the increased attendance is having a real impact on the progress of the children, so please keep coming to school! One little boy in Year 2 said to me at the end of assembly this morning, "I don't want it to be the weekend, because I love school so much!" What a positive attitude to have to school! We have also seen a huge impact from our work on improving children's handwriting and presentation. We had a very positive assembly this morning where a child from each class throughout the whole school showed some work and received a certificate for their improved handwriting and presentation. It is very pleasing to see the great progress that the children are making and the immense pride that they are taking in their work. Keep it up children! Also this week I have enjoyed playing the role of “Chief Tidswell” and judging the ancient monuments that have been made by our Year 3 children. Chief Tidswell and the gods were most pleased with the results! Well done Year 3! Have a lovely half-term break! School re-opens on Monday 6th June.
