Ralph was a senior at Yale University who was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer at 22. He was a gifted, self-less, and bright individual who believed education was the cherished means to any goal. Salutatorian of his 2007 class at Passaic Valley High School, Ralph accepted a full scholarship to Yale University where he was a Master’s Aid, Club Soccer player, and active fraternity brother. As a testament of Ralph’s altruistic nature, prior to passing away, Ralph’s last wish was to use his money to establish a scholarship fund that would financially assist students attending college. Even though Ralph was taken from us, his spirit and dedication to making a difference in this world lives on. RVF has been established in his memory to help further the dreams and successes of others through hosting educational development events, rewarding those who have emulated success inside and outside the classroom, and to inspire students by sharing Ralph’s story. Nine months after its founding, RVF has risen over $20,000, currently holds a readership of over 750 supporters, and is led by a team of nine dedicated, philanthropic individuals focused on expanding RVF’s missions. The Foundation is planning on granting over $18,000 in scholarships to 2013 high school graduates pursuing a degree of higher education. As of now, over 500 New Jersey school districts have been contacted for scholarship solicitation, but we hope we can expand the range of applicants to outside New Jersey with your help. If you have family or friends who are graduating high school, please let them know about RVF’s scholarship. To access the application, please refer to www.theralphverdefoundation.org. Along with the application, candidates must send us their unofficial high school transcript separately to qualify. The application deadline is scheduled for February 1.

Yale’s club soccer team hosted and won an annual invitational tournament benefiting RVF.
PVHS hosted its first annual RVF Invitational Tournament in early April to kick off their season.

The Foundation has applied to more than 15 corporate and government grant opportunities to grow its scholarship fund.
