Build smarterRuukki offers a complete off-site manufactured

building module system that provides tremendous

façade finish flexibility. It is suitable for

practically any type of building, including offices,

schools, hospitals, apartment buildings, as well

as industrial plants and warehouses. It makes

the entire building process more efficient and

offers you a product and service package that

includes project planning, costing, detail design,

production and delivery. The system can be offered

as a complete package including fitting, providing

our clients and partners with greater flexibility

and a simplified procurement process.

Build to orderThe system consists of non-combustible and environmentally sound materials and already has a ten year track record of success. Façade elements have a frame of thermally-broken steel profiles. The inside of the elements consists of a 13 mm plasterboard on a seamless plastic film that is airtight, diffusion-proof and proofed against ageing.

Internal surfaces with different requirements, such as wet rooms, can be fitted with a double plasterboard configuration or a smooth sheet-metal unit and with shorter profile intervals.

A great variety of internal surfacing is available.

The elements are insulated with mineral wool. A weatherproof wind break is mounted on the outside surface. The wind break element is also the fixing surface for the ventilated façade facing. Doors and windows can be fitted and sealed at the factory. Facing materials include steel, aluminium, brick, glass and wood and combinations of these. Depending on the choice of facing material, the façade can be ready-fitted at the factory and the finish fixed on site. Ruukki elements can be designed to allow for both horizontal and vertical loads.

Build practicallyThe Ruukki frame system consists of zinc-

plated thermally-broken steel uprights with a low

heat flow rate. The unique perforation pattern of

the steel uprights combines with mineral wool

insulation to create a pre-fabricated wall with low

transmission loss. The insulation characteristics

can be further improved by adding an uninterrupted

layer of mineral wool on the outside. Ruukki

elements are non-combustible apart from window

and door frames . The multi-layered structure and

frame fittings are designed for efficient

soundproofing and are adapted to meet the precise

acoustic requirements of the project.

Current building trends favour industrial

construction techniques and the Ruukki concept

is geared to provide façade solutions from

specification to completion. The best solutions

and greatest economic advantage from off-site

manufacturing techniques are obtained when the

planning stage begins with the choice of structural

design. The package includes project planning and

structural design planning. Your specific

requirements dictate the extent to which the

elements are completed at the factory. Custom-

made finishes are also available.

Build cost-efficientlyRuukki element modules are manufactured on

the assembly line principle. The steel frame is

manufactured and finished in the same plant,

where it also receives a coating according to

customer specifications. Efficient industrial

production and optimum use of raw materials

means minimum wastage that in turn translates

to low manufacturing costs. Shorter construction

time allows earlier returns on the building

investment as well as lower labour and material

handling costs. The system provides you with the

most economically efficient solution when

windows, doors and other surface details are fitted

at the factory.

Built to lastRuukki wall elements are manufactured in a

controlled industrial environment with a high

degree of prefabrication that guarantees great

dimensional accuracy and a high-quality finish.

Manufacturing takes place indoors in a process

that employs careful logistics and construction

materials that are kept dry at all times, enabling

wall elements to be delivered to site undamaged

and with total insulation integrity. The overall

quality is better than if the assembly work were

done outdoors on site. Ruukki elements meet

exacting building regulations on thermal loss and

soundproofing as well as fire classification.

Build FastRuukki offers a roofing element especially

suited to industrial buildings, warehouses, sports

halls and large-scale housing. All aspects of each

element are manufactured off-site, including a

single-ply external membrane that saves on site

installation time and cost – the only requirement

is to weld overlapping membrane joints in-situ.

Roof panels are 2.4m wide by up to 12m long with

the ability to span from 6m to 8m between

supports, reducing the need for secondary

steelwork and improving internal building

aesthetics.

Its versatile nature allows for fine tuning

adjustments to be made to the precise construction

to achieve different performance levels. For

example, different types of heavy board can be

introduced to improve sound reduction levels up

to 66dB from the 47dB level provided by the basic

element. Enhanced sound absorption in noisy

internal environments can be achieved by use of a

perforated liner tray.

Elements feature holes for eyebolts at each

end to facilitate easy mechanical lifting.

Installation speed is perhaps the most

impressive aspect of this off-site solution. One UK

airport project recorded an amazing figure of

1400m2 installed in just one night shift! Ruukki’s

off-site assembled roofing elements have been

widely used on UK airports, as part of initiatives to

avoid build programmes disrupting flight

schedules.

Build on timeAll elements are delivered from the factory

with their open and moisture-sensitive surfaces

plastic coated. The element units are delivered

standing up on a pallet with a weatherproof plastic

film for protection against dirt and rain during

transport and on-site storage. Handling is made

easier with special lifting eyes mounted on the

upper rim of the unit. Ruukki elements can be pre-

fitted with service pipes and power outlets.
