School of Petroleum Technology under Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) - aims to provide high quality education and advanced knowledge in all areas related to petroleum technology. School of Petroleum Technology commenced the B.Tech. Programme in Petroleum Engineering in August, 2007 with four specializations, namely: Reservoir Engineering, Operations & Production, Instrumentation & Control, and Modeling & Virtual Reality, We also commenced the postgraduate M.Tech. and Ph.D. programs in January 2008.

We are committed to train petroleum engineers who will not only acquire the required domain knowledge and skills, but will also be thinkers, innovators and resourceful professionals. Through a unique curriculum, teaching methodology, and learning experience, we strive to inspire students to develop analysis, synthesis and life-long learning skills, and equip them to enter the global oil and gas sector with confidence.

Design and innovation, critical thinking and creative problem-solving, integrated science laboratory, a spectrum of summer internships, open and technical electives and a set of humanities, social sciences and management courses - these are some of the features of our unique curriculum.

Summer Rural Internship (SRI) is a way to sensitize, educate and develop future Engineers and Managers in energy sector, who are willing to contribute to the industries as well as society. As an initiative, SRI intends to enhance and strengthen students’ understanding on the concept of rural development and rural management. Concept As per the directive of the ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, a Technical programme should comprise of at least 20% courses on Humanities and Management. For better execution of policies during one’s professional career, a technocrat is required to come to terms with the realities of life. In India, Rural population comprises of nearly 70% of the country’s total population. In a developing nation like India, cities are getting saturated rapidly in many ways and the onus on administrative machinery is to focus on rural areas for development. In this regard, it has become mandatory to know and understand rural life and its demography. It is in this reference, School of Petroleum Technology, under the aegis of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, established by a special act of Assembly (2007), has introduced Summer Rural Internship (SRI) as a course in B.Tech Petroleum Engineering Programme for first year students.
