The RUnUP project has been approved to move into the Implementation Phase
• 26 projects submitted
• 13 approved without condition
• 6 need further clarification and modification
• 7 will not proceed

RUnUP Overview• Role of Universities for Economic Development in Urban Poles
• How cities can harness the role of Universities in promoting entrepreneurship through the ‘triple helix’ approach – the combination of the university, business and public sectors
• Aimed at addressing the issues facing ‘Urban Poles’ - cities with between 100,000 and 200,000 inhabitants
• Dedicated lead expert, Dr Clive Winters, University of Coventry
• URBACT Local Support Groups (ULSGs)
Objectives• Develop comprehensive programmes that will bring Universities, the
Business sector and the Public sector together to drive forward Economic Development
• Provide structured support to start-up companies, providing strategic consultation and helping the expansion of companies through partnership working
• Ensure University curriculums pay attention to the skills required by local businesses
• URBACT activities must have an actual impact on local urban sustainable practices and policies
