LCP® RECALL NOTICE:During 2008, Ruger received a small number o reports rom the feld indicating that LCP pistols discharged when droppedonto a hard sur ace with a round in the chamber. We are frmly committed to sa ety and would like to retroft all a ected LCP Pistols. The retroft involvesinstallation o an upgraded hammer mechanism at no charge to the customer.

We want to remind gun users that, for maximum safety when carrying any pistol with a loaded magazine in place, the chamber should be empty, and the slide should be closed. Any gun may fire if dropped or struck.

How to determine if your pistol needs the retro t: All LCP pistols bearing prefx “370” (that is, serial number 370-xxxxx) may be a ected. Newly manu acturedand retroftted “370” prefx LCP pistols with the new hammer mechanism installed have been marked with a diamond in the at portion o the slot just behind andbelow the hammer, as shown to the right. I your pistol has the diamond, it does not need the retroft. Going orward, new pistols will be marked with the serial number prefx “371” (serial number 37Pistols with the “371” prefx (or higher) are not a ected.
