RUBAVU Cross Border Market (CBM) was built to promote trade between Rwanda and neighboring countries and to facilitate of cross-border trade between two twin cities [Gisenyi(Rwanda) and Goma (DRC)]. Construction is financed by Trade Mark East Africa (TMEA);

Contract amount: USD 2,599,271.41 VAT Exclusive.

Clients Initial Requirements

The total land use pattern area is estimated at sqm 5,279.24 divided as follows:

Stands & Retail Space: 24%

Shops & retail space: 20%

Warehouse space: 12%

Green space & open space: 11%

Utility area space: 3%

Parking space: 4%

Pedestrian footpath: 22%

Coal Store space: 4%

This market has been well received by cross-border traders who have found their place in and those who have not been lucky enough to find, they have well appreciate the implementation of this market according to them, said that the cost of transport and time spent when they were selling or buying the goods in the markets that are far from the border will reduce.
