C E L E B R A T I N G 1 0 Y E A R S Q U A K E R W O O D 2020 Award-winning scientist Richard Fortey will explain how a Chilton beech woodland has survived for nearly a thousand years on the same site, earning a living while at the same time supporting a rich community of special plants and animals. His book The Wood from the Trees will provide the background to his talk – describing a yearlong study of several acres of beech and bluebell wood that he bought after retiring from his position at the Natural History Museum.
