Reclassification Criteria CLASS SCHEDULE LANGUAGE SURVEY LISTENING DATE SPEAKING READING WRITING OVERALL CELDT SCORES CELDT GOAL SETTING I plan to achieve a score of EARLY ADVANCED or ADVANCED on this year’s CELDT. I will achieve this goal by doing the following: 1) 2) 3) State law requires that schools administer a state test of English language proficiency for: 1) newly enrolled students whose primary language is not English, and 2) students who are English learners. For California, this test is the California English Language Development Test (CELDT). The purposes of the CELDT are the following: 1) Identify students who are limited English proficient; 2) determine the level of English language proficiency; and 3) assess the progress of students in acquiring the skills of listening, reading, speaking, and writing in English. DO YOUR BEST ON THE CELDT! Once you achieve reclassification, you will no longer be required to take the CELDT test. ASSESSMENT SCORES Score of proficient or higher on district-designated local assessment CORE ACADEMIC GRADES Grade of C or better in English for two consecutive semesters and two semesters of C or higher in science or social science TEACHER RECOMMENDATION Approval from a majority of student’s core (English, math, science, and social science) teachers.
