SUBSTANDARD – VOLUME 6 2012 – Tom Martin 200 Greetings and welcome to Volume 6 of Substandard, the Blacks Organ, for season 2012. Highlights this week include a Tom Martin 200 game tribute and a brilliant look-a-like photo. Thanks as always for your interest in the AUFC, if you have any feedback or Bob Neil photos to send through please email me at [email protected]or call 0414 488 282. We haven’t received a huge amount of feedback recently but would love to hear from you, especially those from interstate and overseas. Likewise, for current teams and players, there is a keg on offer once again on season 2012 for the team that provides the best Bob Neil photo/promotion for the year, as judged by the President. Last years winner is featured as the Bob Neil photo of the week…suspect we wouldn’t get too many complaints if it was the featured photo every week. SPONSORS & MEMBERS DAY Last reminder that this Saturday is Sponsors and Members Day for the Adelaide chapter at Bob Neil 1. All paid up Sponsors and Members are invited to the Long Room from 12:30 – 2:00 for some delectable curries and complimentary drinks courtesy of the proprietor. Then stick around and watch the great man Tommy Martin in his 200 th game against ladder leader Tee Hee Gully. If you haven’t done so already please RSVP to Rulebook on 0414678815 or email [email protected]for catering purposes. We will provide details on interstate and overseas shows next week. FACEBOB Bob found good humour in Tom Colebatch’s Facebook status update last Friday afternoon “Calling all former team-mates. Need several career references. I have been named at Full Back for Wesley- Curtin. I feel sick.” Tom has since informed us that being named at full back made his hamstring almost tear off the bone so he was a last minute withdrawal. We’re now at 249 likes with the last one from “Stormy” Normy Geier who we haven’t seen nor heard much of since his glory days as an important member of Bookem Denno & the C-grade Actors. Good to hear from you Stormy. You will also be pleased to know that Bob dominated the Dunlop Volleys Facebook survey last week, ending up with the vast majority of the vote as to “which Australian do you think would be the ultimate ambassador for Volleys?”. I’m sure something big will come of that. www.facebook.com/bobneil130

ROUND 5 REVIEW 4 out of 7, a bare pass but a pass nonetheless. The A grade had a very hard fought win at Tangle Park against
Max Walkerville with "Brad Davis here to save us" starring and kicking a brilliant goal from the boundary to lock
the result away with just minutes to go. Benny Castine joined a growing list of lads this year to make their A
grade debut for the club and looked right at home. Only sour note was the knee injury to Heafy but we hope
that it’s not quite as bad as it first looked.

The B grade lost by a couple of goals but were decimated by unavailability across the senior squad so no great
panic there. Pitto keeping up his good form with another BOG performance.
At the Bob Neil grounds the B*stards had a stressful start to the day when they couldn't find a key to get into
Bob Neil # 1 and therefore had to move the game to Bob Neil # 2, which clearly had an unsettling effect on the
men in Black because they got belted by Ross & Trevor. Coach Tyro ironically noted that on the day the B*stards
finally kick more goals than points the opposition kicked more points than we had scoring shots...interesting.
The C-Bombs kicked badly and therefore played badly against the Burnt Chips, eventually going down by 32
points, whilst Sugar Ray and his Drunken Cowboys also kicked badly but fortunately played a very average Burnt
Chips B grade and won by 6 goals. The Chairman made a triumphant return to the game in the Drunken
Cowboys, kicking an amazing goal from two centimetres out (about where Wilbur missed from in the 2000 B
grade Prelim) and winning himself two votes courtesy of umpire Rulebook, whom he entirely coincidentally
bought a couple of beers for on the preceding Thursday evening.
The Chardonnays and Scum rounded out the day with comfortable victories against the GGs at Bob Neil # 2, with
the Scum write up featuring as the match report of the week. Ladders for all grades can be found at the link
