January 21, 2017 Rough day for Vikes at Emporia Duals

The Seaman Wrestling team competed in the six-team Emporia Duals on Saturday and came out on the wrong end of the scoreboard in all five duals. The event at Emporia High played host to state-ranked Derby (#4 in 6A), Olathe North (#5 in 6A), and Valley Center (#5 in 5A), along with Junction City, The Vikes and the host school. The five setbacks bring Seaman’s dual record to 8-12 on the season. Individually, four Vikes finished with positive records. Going 4-1 were; Zach Boucher at 106 pounds, Dawson Podlena at 113 pounds, and Kolton Meditz at 120 pounds. Dakoda Orester finished 3-2 at 138 pounds. Podlena made the All-Tournament Team. The week ahead sees the Vikes traveling to Olathe South for a late addition dual tournament on Thursday, followed by a JV tournament in Manhattan on Friday. On Saturday, the varsity travels to Chanute for the always-challenging Southeast Kansas Invitational.

For the week he totaled SIXTEEN matches in FOUR separate competitions.
