Let’s talk about security…

• Educating yourself is the most important thing…

• Facebook does collect data – but you choose to be there and what to share – so NEVER share anything you wouldn’t want on a billboard with your name and photo next to it.

• Setup Personal/Professional Lists for Facebook Friends: • Login into Facebook > Account > Edit Friends > Add to

List > Create New List

• Setup Privacy Restrictions:• Log into Facebook > Account > Privacy Settings >

Customize Privacy

• You do have control of what you share and how it will be used.

• Read the fine print of all social networks – don’t just skip past the Terms of Service.

• Be professional – there’s no sense in being online if you aren’t going to represent yourself well. If you wouldn’t say something out loud in a professional setting, then it probably does not belong in a status update.

• Avoid the sweeping generalizations & fear tactics in some headings & titles.

• Social media is a tool – it will be as effective, useful, & successful, or as harmful, or negative as YOU allow it to be.

The most important thing…

Don’t ever be afraid to ask questions…

This is how we all learn & grow!
