Corrosion Resistant and Ultra-PureRotameters for Accurate Measurement ofLiquids and Gases
George Fischer Plastic Rotameters arevertical flow meters for measuring therate of flow of liquids or gases in indus-trial piping systems. Our wide selectionof materials and measurement scalesallows our rotameters to be used in abroad range of applications and media.
George Fischer UPW Rotameters aredesigned specifically for measuring theflow of liquids or gases in applicationswhich require ultra-pure conditions. Therotameters are designed without anydead spaces and are specially cleanedand bagged for high purity.
Markets/ApplicationsGeorge Fischer rotame-ters are ideally suited fora multitude of corrosiveand sanitary processesin these industrialmarkets:
George Fischer high impact plasticrotameter tubes are durable and virtu-ally shatter-proof. They are the perfectalternative to fragile glass and expen-sive armored flow meters.
Accuracy
Dual Scales
The George Fischer rotameter is a highlyaccurate fluid flow instrument. Accuracyis rated at 3% of full scale, 1% ofmeasured range. The float stops includeflow-straightening vanes. These allow foraccurate measurement even if con-nected directly to a tee or elbow.George Fischer rotameters do notrequire a section of straight pipe tostraighten the flow, making them idealfor applications where limited space isan issue.
Easy to Read
George Fischer rotameters are equippedwith adjustable guides for easy visualreadout. Bright orange-colored floatsare clearly visible, even from a distance.
George Fischer rotameters have beendesigned as dual scale units. Thisenables people at different locations toquickly and accurately communicateactual process flow conditions withouthaving to convert units. Scales areoffered in GPM, LPH, % and cubicmeters per hour for water. Special scalesare available for SCFM (air), NaOH33%, NaOH 50%, and HCI 33%.(Currently, the short version has one scaleonly.)
Modular DesignThe modular design makes our rotame-ters very versatile. It allows the user todesign the correct rotameter configura-tion for a given application. GeorgeFischer offers a wide selection of materi-als, sizes, and scales. All types of endconnectors are available.
Limit Switches
Minimum and maximum limit switchescan be easily installed and adjustedusing the integral mounting rail. Thesereed switches provide an accurate flowreadout when activated by the optionalmagnetic float.

Rotameters
Mode of Operation
The weighted float is raised by the fluidflowing upwards through the taperedtube. The float is raised to the point atwhich the lifting force is in equilibriumwith the weight of the float. The level towhich the float is raised is determined bythe rate of flow of the fluid.

Limit contacts
Variable area flow meters from GeorgeFischer are equipped with two dovetai-led holders. For external electricalmonitoring, these can be used for fit-ting magnetically actuated limit con-tacts. These contacts can be used tosignal high/low flow conditions.

Rotameters
The sensor Type GK 05 was especiallydeveloped for our variable area flowmeters for standard tube sizes 1“-2 1/2“. By installing this sensor, thecustomer is able to achieve remoteindication easily and economically.
An analog signal (4-20 mA) is emitted, proportional to the position of thefloat, which can be used directly as anindication value. As a display unit, wesuggest the 9010 series from ourrenowned +GF+ SIGNET line ofproducts.

This table is used to correct the readingdisplayed by the flowmeter if the specificgravity of the medium differs from thaton which calibration is based.
ExampleSpecific gravity at calibration: 1 .4 kg/1 .A liquid with a specific gravity of 0.9 isto be measured. On the basis of acalibrating liquid of 1 .4, read out factor1 .295 on line 5 of the working fluid
densities. The readings displayed by theflowmeter are multiplied by this factor todetermine the actual volume of flow at aspecific gravity of 0.9.
NoteIf the new density is higher, the factor isless than 1 .If the new density is lower, the factor ismore than 1 .
Ordering InformationAll PVC Socket Ends and UPW Rotameters have a standard nine digit part number(see pages 14.10 – 14.12). All other configurations require a tube assembly, endconnection and seal material part number. All flow ranges will be standard unlessotherwise noted.
Example
A 2" PSU Rotameter with Polypropylene socket end connections, EPDM seals, for 5gpm with a non-magnetic float will have the following part number: 198 806 235 CA
