BUDDIES We run a very successful Buddies Program in which our new prep children are matched with an older “buddy' who will help them settle into school life. Our older children take this role very seriously and are great role models and support for the younger students. The friendships developed through the Buddy Program are a key factor in the Prep children starting school happily. The year five students travel to the preschool in small groups with myself once a week for an hour of buddy activities. We will have our first visit shortly and will continue these visits until the end of the school year. NATIONALLY CONSISTENT COLLECTION OF DATA ON STUDENTS WITH A DISABILITY All government and non- government schools in Australia are required to participate in the annual Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability. The national data collection collects information about students who are receiving adjustments because of disability across Australia in a consistent, reliable and systematic way. This strengthens existing approaches to supporting students with disability and draws on evidence of the ongoing work of teachers and education staff throughout the year to provide personalised learning and support for students with disability. “Getting Ready For Learning” 8.45am daily VICE CAPTAIN Congratulations to Ella who has been appointed as our new school Vice Captain after the departure of Lexi. I know she will do a wonderful job as a student leader at our school. PREP ENROLMENTS We are taking new Prep enrolments for 2019. Please let anyone you know that may have a child commencing school next year that enrolment forms are available in our office. PARENT OPINION SURVEY Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. Approximately 50 per cent of parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous. This year the Parent Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday July 23 to Sunday August 26. The survey will be conducted online, only takes 10-15 minutes to complete, and can be accessed on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The survey results will be reported back to the school at the end of September. Please contact the school office if you would like more information.
