Hello! Things have been rolling smoothly in 208. We’ve been learning, discovering things we are passionate about, and making new friends. A special welcome to our two new students, Lance and Harmony! In Read to Me during January, 208 has been working on reading and writing book reviews, practicing previously learned comprehension skills, as well as discovering satire. In math, 208 is learning all about fractions as well as perimeter, area, and volume! And of course, we are still practicing our math facts, mental math strategies, and problem solving skills. The other day we figured out one strand of Shelby’s hair can hold 100 grams without breaking! We later figured out 500 hairs would support the average weight of a grade 5/6 student! We couldn’t believe it either! In social studies and writing we have just finished up researching the Metis, Louis Riel, and the Northwest Rebellion. During the month of February, we will be writing research papers! We are about to start a new science unit on “Flight” and are looking forward to a special classroom visit from Design-It Science on February 9 th ! In art we have been creating pieces based on Australian Aboriginal Dot Art. In health in February we will be discussing and learning about self-regulating strategies. 208 Representing King Edward at Football Club A Canadian timeline produced by room 208 in January Room 208 Update FEBRUARY 2018
