To Those Whom I Love & Those Who Love Me

When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do.

You must not tie yourself to me with tears, Be happy we had so many years.

I gave you my love, you can only guess How much you gave me in happiness.

I thank you for the love you each have shown. But now it is time I travelled alone.

So grieve a while with me, if grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It is only for a while that we must part,

So bless the memories within your heart.

I will not be far away, for life goes on, So if you need me, call and I will come.

Though you cannot see or touch me, I will be near. And if you listen with your heart, you will hear,

All of my love around you, soft and clear.

Then, when you must come this way alone, I will greet you with a smile and a “Welcome Home!”

LITURGY OF THE WORD FIRST READING (Ecclesiasticus 44: 1-4, 12-15) Chloe Gill (Granddaughter) A reading from the book of Ecclesiasticus. Let us now sing the praises of famous men, our ancestors in their generations. The Lord apportioned to them great glory, his majesty from the beginning. There were those who ruled in their kingdoms, and made a name for themselves by their valor; those who gave counsel because they were intelligent; those who spoke in prophetic oracles; those who led the people by their counsels and by their knowledge of the people’s lore; they were wise in their words of instruction. Their descendants stand by the covenants; their children also, for their sake. Their offspring will continue forever, and their glory will never be blotted out. Their bodies are buried in peace, but their name lives on generation after generation. The assembly declares their wisdom, and the congregation proclaims their praise. The Word of the Lord. A. – Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM (Psalm 23) A. – The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. C. – The Lord is my shepherd there is nothing I shall want.

Fresh and green are the pastures where He gives me repose. Near restful water He leads me, to revive my drooping spirit.

A. – The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. C. – He guides me along the right path; He is true to His name. If I

should walk in the valley of darkness, no evil would I fear. You are there with your crook and your staff; with these you give me comfort.

A. – The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. C. – You have prepared a banquet for me in the sight of my foes.

My head you have anointed with oil; my cup is overflowing. A. – The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. C. – Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me all the days of

my life. In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell for ever and ever. A. – The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. ACCLAMATION A. – Alleluia, alleluia. I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me. Alleluia.

GOSPEL (John 14: 1-6) C. – The Lord be with you. A. – And with your spirit. C. – A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John. A. – Glory to you, O Lord. Jesus said to His disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled; trust in God still, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house; if there were not, I should have told you. I am going now to prepare a place for you, and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you with me; so that where I am, you may be too. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said: “Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus said: “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” The Gospel of the Lord. A. – Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. MUSIC Come As You Are HOMILY

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL C. – For our brother Ron, let us pray to our Lord Jesus Christ, who

said: “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me shall live even in death and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.”

R. – You wept at the death of Lazarus your friend; comfort us in our

sorrow. We pray to the Lord. A. – Lord, hear our prayer. R. – You raised the dead to life: give to our brother eternal life. We pray to the Lord. A. – Lord, hear our prayer. R. – You promised paradise to the repentant thief: bring Ron to the

joys of heaven. We pray to the Lord. A. – Lord, hear our prayer. R. – Our brother was washed clean in Baptism and anointed with

the Holy Spirit: give him fellowship with all your saints forever.

We pray to the Lord. A. – Lord, hear our prayer. R. – Ron was nourished with your body and your blood at the table

of the Lord: grant him a place at the table in your heavenly kingdom.

We pray to the Lord. A. – Lord, hear our prayer.

R. – Comfort us in our sorrow at the death of Ron. Let our faith be our consolation and eternal life our hope.

We pray to the Lord. A. – Lord, hear our prayer. C. – God, our shelter and our strength, you listen to the cry of your

people: hear the prayers we offer for our departed brothers and sisters. Cleanse them of their sins and grant them the fullness of redemption. We ask you this through Christ Our Lord.

A. – Amen. THE LORD’S PRAYER C. – At the Saviour’s command and formed by divine teaching, we

dare to say: A. – Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

C. – Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant

peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

A. – For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever.
