That Mysterious Miracle Potion
The AnalysisThe Friar concocts a potion, that puts
its subject into a state of suspended animation:Undetectable BreathUndetectable PulseCold BodyDeath-like Appearance
The ResearchThe Potion has many effects, which
makes it a compound of several ingredients as no natural poisons would have all of these effects. It is easy to put a person to sleep, but
most substances that cause lowered heart-rate and reduce breathing would come with unwanted side effects: vomiting, itchiness,
DEATH.
The ConclusionThe draught is very complicated, and
it seemed like there was a chance that it would fail. The Friar only mentions it when Juliet proved brave enough.Having your heart rate and breathing
restricted to such an extent is also very dangerous.(Don’t Forget This Is A Fictional Piece)
Applying Modern SciencesWith today’s sciences, you have two
options to be put in suspended animation:1.Cryogenics (Irreversible at Present)2.Hydrogen Sulphide (Tested Only On Rats)Both processes are incomplete. Cryogenics
is used only on legally dead patients for testing and hydrogen sulphide has only be used on rats and mice.
