Chapter I – The Pharmacy profession
Art.553 – The pharmacy profession in Romania is exercised by individuals possessing of a formal qualification in Pharmacy (Romanian citizens, citizens of an EU Member State, EEA or Swiss Confederation)

ART. 554 – (B) The degrees of qualification in pharmacy refers to a pharmacist diploma, issued by an medico-pharmaceutical institution of higher education accredited in Romania, pharmacist specialist certificate issued by the Ministry of Health, diploma, certificate or other evidence of a pharmacy degree, issued according to the Union European rules.
Art.555 – Formal qualifications in the pharmacy profession, obtained abroad, the EU Member States.

Art.556 – Monitoring and controlling the exercise of the profession of pharmacist is made by the Romanian Pharmacists’ Association and the Ministry of Health, called the Romanian competent authorities
Art. 557 – The pharmacy profession is an independent one, and can be exercised based n the membership certificate issued by the Romanian Pharmacists’ Association, as an employee or as the owner.

Art.560 – The Pharmacy profession can be exerted in Romania by persons that fulfill the following conditions: hold a formal qualification in pharmacy, as provided by law, are not found in any of unworthiness or incompatibility cases stipulated by this law, are able to work from a medical point of view, are members of the Romanian Pharmacists’ Association
Pharmacists, citizens of an EU Member State, of any State belonging to the EEA or the Swiss Confederation, established in Romania, have the same rights and obligations as Romanian pharmacists, members of the Romanian Pharmacists’ Association

Section 3: Authorizing the exercise of the pharmacy professionPharmacists are allowed to profess based on the membership
certificate issued by the Romanian Pharmacists’ Association, which is valid across all the period of exercise of the profession, except when incompatibilities of indignity issues appear.
the membership certificate issued by the Romanian Pharmacists’ Association is granted after the solicitant presents the following documents: diplomas that attest the qualifications in the pharmacy profession, health assessment certificate, statement on own responsibility, criminal record certificate

Chapter II – Directives regarding the possibility to exert the Pharmacy profession in Romania by pharmacists coming from another EU, EEA member state or from the Swiss ConfederationSection 1 – the Romanian authorities accept the certificate emitted by the member state of origin, which has to state that the person in question had practiced that activity in that member state for a period of time equivalent to the one stipulated by the Romanian legislation for that particular activity

Section 2 – guidelines regarding the facilitation the right to residency
The demands of the pharmacists that are citizens of a EU, EEA or Swiss Confederation are resolved by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Romanian Pharmacists’ Association, within 3 months since the request was made
The applicant has to present the following documents: copy of the citizenship documents, copy of the documents from which it results the qualifications in the pharmaceutical field, certificate emitted by the competent authorities of the member state of origin, which certify that the official qualification degrees are stipulated in the 2005/36/CE Directive.
